Work With What You Have
There's something about Halloween that I've always loved ... the candy! Haha! In all seriousness, Halloween is just a fun time to change out your current decor and revamp your space into something new and exciting. Modern Farmhouse style is what I gravitate towards when it comes to decorating these days. You don't have to change your style to incorporate Halloween elements in your home. Make Halloween fit into your current style. As I looked for inspiration for my Halloween decorations, I couldn't find very many Modern Farmhouse Halloween displays. I wanted something very simple and in a neutral color palette. Remember, you don't have to incorporate bright orange or purple for your house to feel like Halloween.
Take this entryway for example, we already had this metal and wood console table. It was the perfect blank slate for my Halloween display. When I think of modern farmhouse, I think of mixed metals, wood tones, and florals. Work with the elements that you already have.
Using two Large DIY Unfinished Wood Frames with Wire, I simply added some black stain to the frame. These instantly looked more spooky. Download the Free Free Skull & Bat Halloween Printable Wall Art here! Print these out and hang them from the wire frame with these Mini Clothespins. I am totally obsessed with how they look and they were so simple to create!
I'm going to let you in on my favorite decorating secret, are you ready? I hung these Large DIY Unfinished Wood Frames with Wire with Command Strips®. This makes for quick and easy transition from one holiday to the next without damaging your walls. They are my go-to when decorating!
Add in Greenery & a DIY Banner
Adding in florals to your overall look is really easy too. This Gold Skull Centerpiece nicely holds an oversized succulent. I just left the succulent in the container it came in from the nursery so I can easily remove it after Halloween is over. No need to replant it!
Using a Large Galvanized Pitcher, you can perfectly hold tall twigs. I added some twigs to a smaller vase and placed them into the pitcher. These twigs are a great way to add height to your display and are super easy to care for.
I added the Galvanized Lantern Candle Holders to the lower shelf and scattered some eucalyptus inside the lanterns. You can also place decorative candles and a DIY Decorative Pumpkin inside too. Book are an easy farmhouse look. Look through your house for some neutral color books and use those to add height when needed.
This Large Galvanized Tray with Handles nicely holds a bunch of pumpkins. I added the rest of the DIY Decorative Pumpkins and a couple of the Gold-Dipped White Pumpkins to fill the tray. Again, I scattered in some more eucalyptus. However, I would recommend using faux eucalyptus so it doesn't wilt and die.
Adding a rosette banner to the console table really completed this look. You can create your own DIY banner by checking out my Beware Rosette Halloween Banner tutorial for the step-by-step instructions.
It's Not Halloween Without Candy
Since this is Halloween and you all know how much I love candy, I wanted to make a spooktacular candy bowl. I took five Ceramic Bones and created a pedestal of sorts for my Medium Round Glass Vase to sit on. I also added in a few extra Ceramic Bones mixed in with Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. I added a little "If you Dare!" message to this vintage looking Standing Rustic Chalkboard Table Sign. It's these little details that really complete the overall look.
I filled up this darling Galvanized Metal Tray with Handles with these adorable DIY Mini White Linen Drawstring Treat Bags. These bags are just the right size to give away. Using my Silhouette Cameo and some gold and black glitter iron-on vinyl I added these Halloween images to jazz them up a bit.
You can pre-fill these for your trick-or-treators so you can easily hand them out when your door bell starts ringing or you can give them away to friends and family who visit during October. Either way, your guests will love these. They can also reuse the bags too!
Little Details
This Black Lace Spiderweb Table Runner is very detailed. It looks super-high end and I love how it nicely drapes over the table. It would be perfect down the center of your dining room table too!
Here is an up close photo of the Gold Skull Centerpiece. Isn't it stunning!? It's like it was made to hold a huge succulent.
I also added a few decorations to the wooden shoe bench. Normally this is full of shoes, but it was the perfect place to put the Vintage Halloween Metal Luminaries. I added a piece of white printer paper inside of the luminaries so you could see the details more.
Mix It Up
You might not have as many tables or benches in your entryway. No worries at all. You can just decorate one table, if that's what you have available.
Add a Glitz-O-Ween Table Runner to your entry table to make it look more polished. I also added these Vintage Halloween Mercury Potion Bottles and Gold Gitter Pumpkin Votive Holders. Finish your look off by adding an oversized sign and you will be ready for Halloween. These Vintage Halloween Stacking Boxes are the perfect touch and are so versatile.
Hopefully I've inspired you to spruce up your entryway this Halloween. By following some of my creative tips and tricks, you will be able to create your own Modern Farmhouse Halloween look this year! Plus, all of my ideas are budget friendly and won't break the bank.
