My fireplace mantel is one of my favorite places to decorate for each holiday and season. A few years ago my husband and I decided to shiplap the wall our fireplace is on and it quickly became one of my favorite things about our home. I've transformed it into everything from a sweet and simple Modern Farmhouse Easter Mantel or a whimsical and bright North Pole Christmas Mantel. And, I couldn't wait to create a farmhouse inspired mantel perfect for the entire fall season.
I started by creating a Pumpkins and Pine Cone Fall Wreath. This rustic wreath was the perfect focal point for my fall mantel. I love hanging a wreath from the vintage window we took from my grandmother's farmhouse, it's the perfect backdrop.
Black and white buffalo check is super on trend this holiday season so I decided to incorporate a few check pumpkins and tied it all together with a simple black and white Hello Fall printable sign. Download the Free Hello Fall Printable here!
I filled several galvanized vases with pine cones and twigs to create a natural element that is perfect for this farmhouse inspired fall decor.
I wanted to incorporate lots of pumpkins, but I wanted to keep the decor fairly neutral so orange pumpkins just weren't going to work. I decided to create my own DIY Rustic White Washed Pumpkins. This is such a simple way to tone down the color of the Orange Foam Pumpkins, all while giving it a more rustic feel.
While I wanted to keep the decor for this farmhouse inspired mantel fairly neutral I always like to incorporate my signature color that I use to decorate with in my home. I feel like this is a great way to tie all of the decor elements throughout the home together. I used turquoise paint to create DIY Rustic Pallet Pumpkins that infused a pop of color while maintaining that rustic look and feel I wanted for my mantel.
To tie all the colors together I made a simple wool felt pom-pom garland with the same neutral colors I used on the mantel. I am obsessed with these simple pom-pom garlands and think they add the perfect pop of color and texture to any decor!
I love decorating for the seasons, but I don't love having to switch out my decor every month. Which is why I wanted to make sure I only incorporated elements that would help transition this look all they way from the start of fall to Thanksgiving. Pumpkins & gourds, pine cones, and cotton branches were the perfect mix for my mantel, but I also wanted to add a few unexpected elements like the Gilded Harvest White Ceramic Pheasant .
I am completely smitten with how my rustic fall farmhouse mantel turned out. I can't wait for the chilly autumn air to arrive so I can curl up on the couch with a blanket and a good book while I admire my cozy fall decor!
