We set the scene outdoors at our picnic table. I dressed up the picnic table for lunch with a red plastic table cloth and the farm party tableware. Paper plates make for easy cleanup! Each place setting was equipped with a farm party dinner plates, yellow gingham beverage napkins and the farm party lunch napkins. If you're hosting a farm party what better beverage to serve than MILK! Don't you just love these glass milk bottles? They look darling with the cow print paper straws and a foam farm animals shapes.

I placed a cute "On the Farm" coloring book and crayon set next to their plates to keep them busy while they waited for their lunch. The farm animal visors were perfect for keeping the sun out of their eyes.

I placed various farm animal figurines at the table to inspire some playtime and conversation. I asked the kids to tell me what they knew about each animal (i.e. what animal is that? What do they eat? What do they sound like?).

Note: Farm animal figurines pose a choking hazard for kids under the age of 3.

After lunch the kids got to build their own horse on a stick! This was a HUGE hit. The boys made horses with brown hair and the girls made horses with pink hair (they were tickled pink, to say the least).

After our craft we headed inside to beat the heat and explore the barnyard play table tent! It fits right over a card table and creates the best fort for kids to play. The kids gathered up the farm animal figurines and went to town playing "on the farm". The tent has a main door opening and little windows throughout. Done playing? It's easy to pull off the card table and fold up for storage! Trust me, you'll LOVE IT!

We ended the day with a delicious caramel apple candy dip with sliced apples and pretzels. It was the BEST playdate ... to date!
