When I started teaching ten years ago, I learned something very important. The end of the year requires special teacher survival skills! No matter how well your classroom is managed, kids get a little crazy just before summer. One strategy that I always use to survive the last month of school is a new classroom reward system. It has to be something fresh and exciting to really get everyone’s attention. This year I created what I call “Flip-Flop Fun” to promote positive behaviors in my classroom! It’s really simple to set up, and can be easily adjusted it to meet the needs of your classroom!
To get started, you will need 8 flip-flops. The colorful flip-flops on the Flip Flop Garland were the perfect size so I just cut them off the line. You can use a permanent marker to write one letter on each flip-flop or you can use glue to attach these printable letters. You can download the printable letters for free here.
I hung the Bright Flower Lei Garland up in some empty space I had between two chalkboards. I used clothespins to attach the flip-flops to the lei garland. Did you notice how I hung them? I hung them UPSIDE DOWN for a reason! All 8 flip-flops start by hanging upside down. Whenever I notice my class doing something worthy of a compliment, I flip one of the flip-flops so it's right side up. You can decide how often to flip them and what behaviors you are looking for in your classroom. Whenever all 8 flip-flops are right side up, the class earns a reward!
I placed the rewards inside some adorable Flip Flop Tote Bags. I filled each of my bags with a different prize or reward. When the bags are hanging in the classroom, the kids can't see what is inside. The mystery and anticipation is really exciting!
You can pick prizes that are appropriate for your kids. I chose a variety of flip-flop prizes to match my theme! They are small enough to fit inside the Flip Flop Tote Bags and I love the bright colors!

I also created Flip-Flop Reward Coupons to put inside the bags. My class can earn12 different rewards, such as lunch outside, extra tech tIme, or switch seats! I like rewarding my kids with fun experiences at the end of the year. It's a great way to make special memories together! You can download the Flip-Flop Reward Coupons for free.

The Flip Flop Tote Bags are perfect because I can keep refilling them again and again! Once the class earns a reward, just flip all 8 flip-flops upside down and start over! It's amazing how 8 little flip-flops can help improve your classroom management and make the end of the year fun!
