Calling all brides that love velvety blues and the jewel tones of purple. This "modern meets rich elegance" combination evokes a lush, luxurious and sophisticated look. Dark colors have been a hot wedding color trend for some time as they always look so chic and glamorous. This deep navy, purple and gold combination creates a beautiful bold pairing that is sure to become an elegant, timeless trend.
The Table: For this wedding, I started with dark blue linens. On top of the navy blue, I used a sparkly Gold Sequin Table Runner and then added a Silver Candelabra that I had spray painted gold with blue candles. I kept the center of the table simple as the focus for this reception table design was the depth of the color combination and layering in the place settings. I added 2 deep blue, geometric vases with lavender sweet peas and flowing greens. Sweet peas are a cost-effective flower for centerpieces and are so romantic. They soften the modern elegance of gold perfectly. Lastly, I added a simple gold frame with the table number to the table (Table 1-6 are available for you to download). These are designed by Jen T By Design with matching "love note" (Our love is written in the stars) for the cake table and capture the look and feel of a stormy night as the sun sets. Rich in watercolor shades of blue and purple. The Place Setting: This place setting was designed to accentuate the color palette. I started with Gold Chargers, followed by a purple napkin, a White Plastic Dinner Plate with Gold Edging, and Plastic Purple Dessert Plates. To the right, on the top purple plate, I added a single Natural Peacock Feather. Peacock feathers look gorgeous and feature this beautiful color combination in nature. Next, to each feather, I placed a Navy, Purple and Gold DIY Favor Box with a sweet chocolate inside. These favor boxes can be taken home or guests can indulge in a sweet after dinner treat while enjoying the celebrations. To further emphasize the element of peacock feathers into the design of the place setting I used Gold Tone Feather Place Card Holders to hold name tags for each guest. Finally, I added Premium Metallic Gold Cutlery to each place setting, a Blue Patterned Plastic Wine Glass, Clear Patterned Champagne Flute and a Purple Stemless Plastic Wine Glass as a water glass. The Flowers: The key to incorporating all purple into the floral design is color variety. Mix in lighter purples to let the darker flowers pop. Group shades and add some height, the varying shades will create magic, further surprise your guests with unexpected whimsy, incorporate purple fringed kale throughout the arrangements. I placed these larger arrangements in areas that are key to emphasizing the style and ambiance of the wedding reception. Placing one at the welcome table, turning the table into a focal piece. Another with the wedding cake, although it looks amazing on its own, adding fresh flowers gives the cake more to pop against. Finally, I added an arrangement to the reception backdrop on a chaise lounge. Jewel Tone Desserts: Incorporate the blue, purple jewel tones into your dessert selection. Store bought pancakes are elevated to vibrant with the addition of cream and berry tiers. Place your Mini Berry Dessert Pancake Stacks onto a Mini Square Plastic Appetizer Plate and serve with marble and gold for an elegant modern look. A simple naked cake is also elevated to vibrant with a stunning purple floral topper atop a gold cake stand. Gold-Flecked Mercury Votive Holders are a lovely accent to these pops of color. The Reception Backdrop: Macrame has been making a huge comeback. It's widely used in decor and this is a great opportunity to rock the trend for your wedding. Using macrame is a gorgeous and budget-savvy way to stand out, it fits perfectly with accents of bold purple blooms and greenery. I also love the boho contrast to elegant sequins and gold. A relaxed glam vibe. Better yet this stunning wedding decor does double duty as a reception backdrop. I placed a chaise lounge available at our wedding venue, Studio 1904, in front of the backdrop. Then I added two Gold Mercury Candle Holders with White Pillar Candles and a gold vase full of purple blooms. These accentuate the reception decor perfectly and doubles as a photo opportunity for guests and the bridal party alike. The Photo Booth:
To create the main photo booth all you need is a wall and some Gold Mercury Hanging Globes. I hung the globes in a series of 4 by 4. I accented the globes with Purple Ostrich Feathers and Natural Peacock Feathers to give a pop of color. Photo booths are great for the breaking the ice and getting guests interacting
Seating Chart & Welcome: If you are looking for a unique and elegant way to display your wedding seating cards, then you can try this DIY Wrought Iron Wedding Seating Chart. It is simple to make and beautiful. It incorporates both the eye-catching purple and navy watercolor design of the printables and the feather accents used on the table. Finally, don't forget to welcome your guests. I used my Cricut to cut this beautiful welcome sign by Jen T By Design and added it to a gold gilt mirror. The mirror also reflects the beauty of the reception decor. I hope you enjoyed this romantic Elegant Navy and Purple wedding with ideas for elegant yet achievable reception decor.
