Let’s put on a beret and take a trip to Paris, France! Directed drawings are a great way to incorporate art into the classroom while focusing on fine motor & listening skills as well as following directions. This activity is a great way to introduce our next destination for our school theme: The World Is at Your Fingertips. This step-by-step directed drawing is sure to be a huge hit in any classroom. Let’s grab our aprons, paint, and paintbrushes, and get started. Be sure to grab the free step-by-step Eiffel Tower directed drawing instructions here.
With their berets and easy wipe aprons, my students felt like they were true artists from Paris. Before drawing our Eiffel Towers on canvas, I had my students practice on a plain piece of white paper. I then took my students through the step-by-step directed drawing instructions. The scene was set using the City of Paris Silhouette Backdrop.
After practicing our Eiffel Tower directed drawing on paper, it was time to work on the final product. My students used DIY Canvases - 8" x 8" and a pencil to sketch out their Eiffel Towers. I directed my students through the step-by-step directions from the Eiffel Tower Directed Drawing Instructions. I love how unique each Eiffel Tower directed drawing turned out!
My students used Sharpie® Fine Point Permanent Markers to trace their drawing and to make their Eiffel Tower stand out. Prior to painting their Eiffel Towers, I made sure that the outline of their drawing would still show up. I found that using Crayola® Washable Paint Assortment was the best option of paint for this activity.
The Crayola® Washable Paint Assortment provides students with a variety of vibrant colors to choose from. The best part is that the paint is washable. This makes clean up very easy and the paint will not stain clothes! I provided each student with a Paint Palette and a variety of paint colors to paint their Eiffel Tower drawing.
My students used the Watercolor Brush Set to paint their canvas. This activity is sure to be a big hit in any classroom and will let the inner artist in every child come out!
