11 Easy Patriotic Crafts for Kids

Pinwheels are a fun and simple craft that kids can easily create on their own. Put a patriotic twist on the classic pinwheel for the kids to twirl and spin during the big parade. Using the Free Printable Template provided, cut out a square of Cardstock in red, light blue and dark blue. Cut along the fold lines and stop at the small circle in the middle. Next, bring every other point into the center and stick a brad through all four points. Place the pinwheel on top of a Red, White & Blue Paper Straws and push the center brad through the straw. For an added touch, Hot Glue a Patriotic Kids Buttons in the middle of the pinwheel. Be sure to download the free printable here.

Kids can use these fun totes while catching candy at the parade or fill them with pool essentials for a patriotic pool party! Using Fabric Paint, paint red stripes across a DIY Large White Canvas Tote Bags and allow to dry. Next, have kids dip their palms into blue Fabric Paint and make a handprint towards the corner of the bag. Once the bag is completely dry, it's ready for a fun filled 4th of July day!

Make sure to leave enough of a circle to fit the child's finger. Twist the stems and wrap the fifth stem around a couple of times to secure the ring. Next, shape the stems to create a burst of fireworks and attach Colorful Faceted Gems using Hot Glue to the middle of the ring.

Play dough is always a big hit with kids, especially when it's full of patriotic sparkles! Divide play dough into parts of red, white and blue. Sprinkle a little silver glitter into each of the dough balls and knead until the glitter has been fully incorporated. Place a ball of red, white and blue play dough inside a short jar and thread a string of baker's twine through a large star button and tie around the jar. Attach the printable to the jar and don't forget the dough rollers!

Here's an adorable (and safe!) firework for little hands to play with on the 4th of July. Kids will love these Pop-Up Fireworks and can watch the excitement! Cover a DIY cardboard cone with red and blue scrapbook paper using Mod Podge and allow the cone to dry. Next, snip the ends of the cones off with scissors and slide a dowel through the cones. Tie several strands of red, white and blue curling ribbon to the top of the dowel. Decorate the cone using glitter foam stars and any other fun patriotic stickers or embellishments you'd like! Tuck all the ribbon inside of the cone so it's completely hidden. The kids can push the dowel up through the cone and watch their very own firework show! Print out the tag onto white cardstock and attach to the dowel using red baker's twine.
