Each spring, I like to teach my students about Earth Day! Students love to learn how they can help their environment and with the weather warming up, it is a great time to head outside! I like to keep our Earth Day activities simple and effective due to how busy the last few months of school can be. Here are a couple ways to introduce students to Earth Day and teach them how they can directly impact the earth.
The Color Your Own We Speak For the Tree Pledge Poster is a great resource to have students explain ways that they can help save a tree! I love to incorporate Oriental Trading's Color Your Own Posters whenever possible. Students get excited to see how large each poster is and always give some of their best work. How cute will these be displayed in the hallway?! Incorporate these Earth Day Pledge Certificates into your lesson so kids can take what they learned in class home to their parents.
The Earth Mobile Craft Kit is an adorable craft to use for Earth Day. This craft requires no gluing or prep, and very little cutting! As a class, brainstorm ways that students could help the environment. Students then write one response on each heart. Attach each heart with the string that is provided. All materials come in individual packets for each craft with printed directions. Save the Earth Coloring Books include information that will help students understand about recycling, reducing, and reusing. At the back of each coloring book, there is a page of stickers using Earth Day symbols. After learning all about each way to help the enviroment, students can then enjoy a little brain break while coloring. I hope these ideas have inspired you to teach your students about Earth Day and how they can help the world they live in!
