Easter has always been one of my favorite holidays. Our family would attend church bright and early and then have breakfast with friends at a local restaurant. The dads would all somehow manage to sneak away, without us kids noticing, to rush home and hide all the eggs. Of course I caught on years later, but the joy of coming home to hunt the eggs that seemed to magically appear is a memory I will always cherish. This brunch evokes those happy childhood memories and is sure to warm your heart as it does mine.
Colorful Springtime Decor
We're excited to hop into spring so we figured if we design it, it will come! Pastel colors punctuated with brighter shades of sunny yellow and grass green are sure to delight the senses.
We created a DIY Bunny Ear Party Backdrop that invited guests to hop right into the fun! Tissue paper flowers crowned the foam board bunny ears for a whimsical touch. The ears stood tall over our dessert dresser and instantly set the mood for the day. You can find the steps to recreate the look here.
Cheerful Tablescape Accents
Our dining table was styled in a sophisticated and fun way to keep the brunch from feeling too stuffy. We started by layering a yellow gingham tablecloth, laid on the diagonal, atop our white dining table. It provided the perfect jumping off point for the rest of our cheerfully decorations.
We placed a clear plastic pedestal jar, which we spray-painted a crisp white, in the center of our table and filled it with greenery and tulips. Nothing screams spring more than tulips in my opinion!
Simple bunny ears, made from felt and attached to bamboo skewers, were tucked into our arrangement of tulips and gave our centerpiece a playful touch.
We placed a grouping of pastel painted bunnies and eggs on either side of our floral arrangement centerpiece to balance the look.
A DIY Flat ceramic bunny was painted light pink and stood tall next to a mini plastic Easter basket filled with wooden eggs. We placed her on each end of the table to add a bit of height.
We embellished the pink bunny with a simple paper flower made with scrapbook paper. A DIY ceramic bunny bank was placed opposite, and painted light blue. He was given a DIY paper bow tie, which played off the adorable dressed for Easter dinner plates nicely. The banks were a perfect little take home gift for each of our guests!
A mini green Easter basket sat in the center of the bunnies and was filled with yellow Easter grass and three painted wooden Easter eggs. We gave them a speckled splatter paint effect in our theme's colors of pale pink, light blue and lavender.
Dapper Bunny Place Settings
Each place setting was created by layering bespectacled well-dressed bunny dinner plates atop square lavender plates for a bit of dimension.
A dressed for Easter napkin and the cutest chick sipper cups were added to each place setting to ensure the Easter chicks were well represented at the table. We swapped out the straw that came with the chick cup for a light pink striped paper straw instead, to better coordinate with our theme. Our little guests were thrilled that they could take the sipper cups home with them after the party! Light blue forks were placed to the left of our plates and rounded out our color scheme nicely.
DIY Carrot Treat Pouches, stuffed with bunny ear lollipops, were crafted and placed to the right of each place setting. All the little bunnies at our brunch felt special to receive such a sweet treat. You can find the tutorial to create your own treats to make your little some-bunnies smile here.
Bunny Brunch Bites
Without a doubt, my favorite part of our bunny brunch, as with any party, was the desserts! The DIY Bunny Ear Party Backdrop placed over our spring green dresser was the springboard for the entire party decor and treats that followed.
We offered a selection of two treats for our little bunnies and chicks to choose from to ensure everyone's sweet tooth was satisfied.
A fan favorite was definitely the Rice Krispies Treat Easter Chicks Recipe. They looked adorable sitting in the center of our dresser grouped on a white serving tray next to a few of our speckled DIY wooden eggs.
The little chicks were tucked inside individual "nests" created by adding green Easter grass to mini pastel favor pails. A ceramic bunny bank, painted lavender, received a pink paper flower and stood watch over our treats.
I just adore the chicks' sweet faces and their coconut "feathers" that grace the tops of their little heads! You can find the recipe to make your own Rice Krispies Treats Easter Chicks here.
Little bunny bums and long floppy ears peeked out of flower garden cupcakes and delighted our guests young and old!
The cupcakes, baked with love by Missy P. Sweets, beckoned spring with their pretty pastel petals.
Two additional ceramic bunny banks were placed atop white candle holders for height and charmingly rounded out the dessert dresser's decor.
As our little bunnies and chicks hopped home with their bunny banks and chick cups in hand, they couldn't wait to hunt Easter eggs and spend the holiday with their families!
