Our Dr. Seuss reading corner was oh so simple to put together and was just what our classroom needed to bring it to life! My students love reading books in our Dr. Seuss Themed Reading Corner and try to keep it as neat as they can! The Cat in the Hat Jointed Cutouts are the perfect addition to our Thing 1 and Thing 2 bulletin board and the lanterns and adorable chevron banner tie it all together!
I had so much fun creating this reading corner for my students! Dr. Seuss is a hero to many Kindergarten students and they love seeing The Cat in the Hat and Thing 1 and Thing 2 on the wall in their reading corner. I began by hanging this fun Cat in the Hat backdrop on my wall and surrounding it with a Dr. Seuss Wide Bulletin Board Boarder. I liked how the two complimented each other, yet fit in with the silliness that Dr. Seuss brings out in all of us! I then hung Thing 1 and Thing 2 on the backdrop and they immediately brought the fun of Dr. Seuss to our room! Next, I added a title using the bulletin board letters to say, "READING is the THING to do!" I also added in the large jointed Cat in the Hat cutout for a finishing touch!
To add a little more fun to the space, I included in a few red and blue throw pillows to make the space softer for children reading on the floor. I also added in some cute Cat in the Hat labels to our book shelves to help my students remember where each basket of books belongs on the shelf. They just match up the words on the book basket to the words on the label and then know where the basket belongs!
I decided to hang Blue Hanging Paper Lanterns from the ceiling above the reading corner and tied on some leftover red and blue ribbon to make them feel more "Seuss-y." A cute Red Chevron Pennant Banner was strung in between the lanterns to bring in one more whimsical element.
To keep our reading corner clean and organized I used Cat in the Hat Name Tags/Labels to ensure our books stay sorted and in their place.
My students LOVE our reading corner! They use it everyday and are so careful to keep it nice and clean! I catch them snuggling with the pillows as they curl up with a book and enjoy reading!
