Who doesn't LOVE Dr. Seuss? One of my favorite books growing up was The Cat In The Hat and now, I am so thrilled that my kids love Dr. Seuss as much as I did. My son's favorite Dr. Seuss characters are Thing 1 and Thing 2 which inspired this Thing 3 Birthday Party Table. This would be a fun and vibrant birthday party theme that you can pull together with lots of Dr. Seuss decorations.
Set The Scene
Create the perfect party scene for a bright and whimsical Dr. Seuss Thing 3 birthday party with this awesome backdrop! Cover an empty wall with a large piece of aqua polka dot paper. This paper comes on a roll so you can cover a large area with it. Adhere it to the wall with painter's tape. It holds and won't damage your walls when you remove it. Once you have the paper up, assemble the Giant Cat In The Hat cutout and stick it to the middle of the backdrop with tape. Decorate around it with several Dr. Seuss bulletin board character cutouts.
I also added a few red paper plates with Thing 1 face cutouts and Cat In The Hat cutouts taped to the middle of them. I love how the plates give the backdrop a whimsical look.
Set Up a Dr. Seuss Thing 3 Party Dining Table
Your party guests will love to sit at this fun party table. Use the same aqua polka dot paper to cover your dining table instead of a traditional tablecloth. Then, tape a few strips of Dr. Seuss Thing 1 & 2 bulletin border to create a runner down the table.
DIY Centerpiece
The wow factor to any dining table is the centerpiece and this one is AMAZING and easy to make! Check out my DIY Thing 3 Centerpiece Tutorial for all the step-by-step instructions.
Use a few more character cutouts to finish decorating the table. Simply punch them out and tape them to the front of a clear glass rectangle vase. How cute are these!
Personalized Place Settings
Create personalized place settings for your guests with monogrammed party plates that you can personalize with the first letter of each guest's name. Simply punch out the letters from this Dr. Seuss striped bulletin board letters pack and attach them to a turquoise dessert party plate with glue dots.
Remove the monogrammed plate when guests sit down and serve food on the red paper dinner plate underneath.
Matching Cutlery, Napkins & Cups!
Use red and white striped washi tape to embellish plain white plastic cutlery to match the party's design. Simply wrap the washi tape around the handles of the spoons and forks.
Design a two-toned napkin to add some fun to your place settings. Fold a turquoise dinner napkin then add a folded red beverage napkin around it. Top the napkins with a Dr. Seuss bookmark magnet which each guest can take home as a party favor.
Jazz up plain paper cups to match your party theme. Place a Cat In The Hat sticker on the front of plain turquoise paper cups and add a red and white striped paper straw. Now you have themed paper cups that complete your dining table place setting.
Chair Decorations
Don't forget the chairs! Decorate the chairs by taping a Cat In The Hat cutout to each guest's chair.
I hope this has inspired you to host your own Thing 3 Birthday Party!
