My love of donuts runs deep. I mean, what’s not to love? They’re delicious, adorable for decorating, delicious, come in a colorful array of flavors, delicious…. but I digress. Last year we started a tradition of a winter sledding play date and this year I wanted to give it a new flair. Enter donuts.
We started the day with a few donut-themed crafts.
We chose to make DIY Sock Donuts and also a little something to hold our brunch (ok, I really mean donuts): Donut Sticker Plates. Be sure to check out both of these projects. So fun and great for any age!
I wanted to keep the gathering to a light brunch (as light as donuts can be, anyway) so I went with donuts, fruit, chocolate milk, and juice as the food spread. I made these delicious little chocolate mini donuts (the recipe is so simple and yummy!), and also served donuts from our favorite local donut shop.
I also whipped up an extra batch of the mini donuts to give as party favors in the cutest little Donut Party Favor Boxes you ever did see.
I printed some cute donut pun tags from my computer (it was too easy to come up with great puns!) and attached them to the boxes using these adorable tiny pink clothespins.
Oriental Trading Company has the best donut decor. Everything from the luncheon napkins and donut garlands to the Donut Party Truck Centerpieces came together so easily. Even the pastel milk bottles were perfect, and we used these alphabet stickers so the kids could personalize them and also keep them straight. Bonus: the kids could take their drinks home or on the sledding hill without spills!
Speaking of sledding, how could we not use the most adorable giant inflatable doughnuts to sled on? There are few things cuter than kids sledding down a snowy hill on a giant donut. They were a huge hit with kids and adults alike!
Though we did this as a winter play date, it could easily translate into a summer party and you could use the giant donuts for swimming. Donuts are great any time of year, am I right, people? This play date really takes the cake – or the donut – if you will.
