Let's dig and discover letters! Students need various ways to practice letter recognition. Have your students practice the alphabet with fun dog-themed stations. Set up hanging lanterns, have your students wear dog ears, call it a party and they'll be engaged for days!

At this station, students jump and stomp the letters labeled on the paw prints. Before the station begins, be sure to write the letters on each paw print. Then students must say the correct letters and as a challenge, name four objects that start with that letter. This is especially great for students who love big, kinesthetic movement.

Before students start this station, write one letter on each dog eraser. To begin this station, have students match the correct letter on the dog to the appropriate alphabet card. Students must then call out the letter and place the dog on top of the card. You could make this be more competitive by having two identical stations set up. The first person to match the cards to the dogs wins!

Here is another great hands-on activity. Before the activity begins, write the alphabet on these giant puppy-filled eggs and the puppies inside them. Separate the two and write one letter on each. Students will then match up the dogs with the correct egg. You could also make this a relay race.

At this station, students get a chance to practice writing letters. They will write a letter on each piece of the puzzle. Next, they will take puzzles apart and then put pieces back together all while making sure the pieces are in alphabetical order.
