When Pantone announced that “Greenery” was the 2017 Color Of The Year, I took the news as my cue to immediately hit refresh on the way I thought about this warm earth tone. From room makeovers and even veggie-filled recipes, it seems that this color has lately taken our collective worlds by storm.
In order to properly celebrate Greenery in all its finery, I challenged myself to design a Pantone-inspired tablescape built entirely around the hue. Read on to find out how I pulled the look together for a cozy luncheon at home!

The first step was to choose a foundation for my tablescape. Instead of going with a bright white tablecloth, I ultimately decided to lay the table with a natural, undyed pure linen cloth that I already had on hand. The slightly wrinkled look of the fabric gave the table that natural vibe I was going for, and the light gray color helped the rest of the tableware pop without too much high contrast.
Next came the place settings. In the interest of budget and not wanting my tablescape to look too crisp and formal, I chose to make my own DIY Leafy Burlap Place Settings. The rich texture of the burlap paired with the super saturated green faux leaves created an earth-inspired statement at each and every chair around our dining room table.
I was also able to carry the leaf theme over to the sides of each place setting using white cloth napkins wrapped with DIY Leafy Beaded Faux Leather Napkin Rings. DIY Grassy Placecard Holders finished off the look and offered my guests a way to choose their seats without confusion. The added bonus? These bright green placecards could go home with my friends and family as favors after the party was over and the table was cleared!
Down the center of my luncheon table, I arranged a collection of Small Round Hanging Globes and Medium Round Hanging Globes that I then filled with stones, faux succulents and air plants. Moss Rocks helped further establish the color palette and added more nature-inspired texture down the center of the table.
As for food and drink, I was able to keep things on budget using a selection of designer-inspired shatter-proof dishes. Clear Stemless Plastic Wine Glasses and a Clear Plastic Wine Pitcher were used to pour infused waters at each place setting. I served store-bought pasta salad and buttery croissants using a Clear Decorative Serving Bowl and Clear Salad Serving Set, both of which could later be cleaned and reused or simply recycled. Pretty metallic gold plastic forks also helped solidify the cool-yet-casual party vibe I was going for.
I think I even surprised myself with how quickly this luncheon event came together, which ultimately allowed for even more time to enjoy a stress-free meal and lots of good conversation with my party guests.
