DIY Christmas Ornament Gifts for Parents

DIY Christmas Ornament Gifts for Parents

Every year the students are super excited to make a Christmas craft for their family. I normally make some sort of ornament with my class. This year I decided to try three different styles for them to choose from. My students enjoyed making these ornaments for their family and we know it will bring holiday cheer!

My favorite ornament was a made from a wood coaster. These are perfect to go with rustic decor, and they are really simple to paint on because they are flat! First we painted a tree and then sprinkled glitter on before it dried. The next day we added star jewels to decorate the tree. At the end of the school day, I used a hot glue gun to add the ribbon hook.

Our second ornament option was using mini chalkboard signs. I love that these already come with twine that can be used to hang the ornament. I gave the students the option to use 3D paint, glitter, lowercase alphabet tiles, and decorative embellishments.

I love the idea of using the alphabet tiles for various ornaments, but I would recommend using a flat surface so the tiles lay nicely on the ornament.

This was my first time using an ornament that can split in two. I will never go back to a solid sphere again! It was perfect because I didn’t have to worry about the ornament rolling off the table, rolling and smearing their paint, or planning out where to set them to dry. Because the ornaments split in two, I could have them paint each half and just lay them on the table to dry! #bestinventionever

The students pressed their fingerprints along the ornament and sprinkled it with glitter. Then they used 3D Paint to make the light strand.

You can fill the center with paper, ribbon, fake snow, or any embellishment you want!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
