Looking for ways to make your bulletin board pop? My newest bulletin board features simply stylish embellishments that are fresh, fun and engaging and add so much personality to your classroom.
Bulletin boards! There are so many different types of bulletin boards in my classroom. From inspirational quotes, to job boards, student work display boards, ones specifically for anchor charts on interactive ones that can be used by students throughout the year. No matter what kind of bulletin board you hang in your classroom, there are a few essentials that are absolutely needed. First off, you need a good base paper and fadeless is key to a long-lasting bulletin board that can last the entire school year and beyond. For me I was immediately inspired by the Fadeless® Black & White Stripe Bulletin Board Paper Roll. Something I do that helps me when I am hanging a bulletin board by myself is using push pins to anchor the paper to the wall before I staple it. This is especially helpful for any bulletin board paper that has lines or seems that need to line up.
The second bulletin board must have are borders. I always layer at least two borders together to add dimension, color and make the bulletin board pop. For this board, I chose to layer the Cactus Bulletin Board Borders along with the Double-Sided Solid & Polka Dot Bulletin Board Borders - Light Purple.
The next thing you need for a stand out bulletin board are embellishments to make the board look unique and pleasing to the eye. I am obsessed with the Schoolgirl Style Simply Stylish Tassel Bulletin Board Cutouts and the Simply Stylish Succulent Bulletin Board Cutouts. They will be on every single bulletin board of mine for this coming school year!
For this bulletin board in particular, I am making an interactive synonym wall for my students to use during writers workshop. During the editing process, the students can come to the synonym wall and search through these Simply Sassy Library Pockets for a better word to use for their writing. I made these with my Pocket full of Synonyms set and adhered them using Fabulous Foam Double-Sided Tape - 6 Rolls. The final thing I love to use on any bulletin board is a fun garland to frame the board. For this board I chose my favorite, the Cactus Party Garland.
Well there you have it! The keys to a successful bulletin board: fadeless paper, borders to layer, embellishments that make the board pop and some bunting to frame it! Get creative and try some fun new borders or accents, trust me, it'll make coming to work each day so much brighter!
