Everyone's favorite nonsensical bad guys are at it again in Despicable M3 and we couldn't wait to celebrate, Minion style! These little yellow critters are always the best part of any Despicable Me movie, so what better way to celebrate the film than by hosting a yellow and blue, banana filled party highlighting those mischievous Minions. You can host your own Minion themed party at home with our delicious recipe idea, creative DIY crafts and plenty of adorably themed party decor!
The Table
We started out by using the Minions' classic color combination; yellow and blue. A crisp white table cloth was layered with a blue runner trimmed from Blue Gossamer which was topped with a yellow runner cut from a Yellow Plastic Tablecloth Roll. Lastly, for a little extra pop of color, we added a Despicable Me 3™ Plastic Tablecloth. We love how these colors play together and make us think of our favorite little yellow characters.
The Centerpiece
We wanted to keep our centerpiece simple, so displaying a simple super market cake was the easiest option! We dressed our cake up with a Despicable Me 3™ Cone Hat and Minions™ Goggles for a playful look that was inexpensive and too cute for words! We also wanted a unique way to display some candies in the middle of our centerpiece, so we created the cutest DIY Minion Lollipop Buckets ever! These stands are incredibly cute and the kids loved grabbing candies right out of the buckets. We added adorable Minion inspired Googly Eyes to each Yellow Swirl Lollipop for an extra dose of fun! You can get the full step by step tutorial for our DIY Minion Lollipop Buckets here!
Lastly, we added a colorful Minions™ Treat Stand for extra sweets and treats and a fun character filled touch!
The Place Settings
We had so much fun creating place settings inspired by these silly little creatures! We started by layering up a few different color plates, starting with a Silver Decorative Charger layered with a Cobalt Blue Square Paper Dinner Plate and a Minion Square Dinner Plate. Beside each setting we displayed Despicable Me 3™ Luncheon Napkins and Despicable Me 3™ Beverage Napkins topped with Royal Blue Plastic Forks, Minion Pencils and a Banana Pen.
Despicable Me 3™ Paper Cups perfectly coordinated with our place settings and we added a Googly Eye to our Blue Striped Paper Straws for a custom look!
Lastly, each guest had a Pez® Despicable Me™ Hard Candy Dispensers Assortment which were a huge hit with the kids!
The Backdrop and Dessert Table
We wanted to create a giant Minion out of Yellow and Blue Fadeless® Art Paper Rolls for our backdrop to create the perfect look for our party! We loved how it truly set the scene. We displayed Blue Tassel Garland and Citrine Yellow Balloons mixed with Enormous Googly Eyes on the front of our table for a fun addition. A simple cake and extra drinks were served up for guests to enjoy.
We loved the giant Despicable Me™ Mylar Balloons flanking the table. The more Minions the better! The Minions Honeycomb Centerpieces added a bright pop of color against our backdrop as well!
Despicable Me3™ Cone Hats were also displayed on the table for the kids to wear whilst celebrating! The kids also enjoyed playing with the minions noise makers!
We also created some of our own minion themed hats using Kids' Construction Hats and Goggle Pumpkin Decorating Craft Kit so the kids could take turns dressing up as a minion! The Backdrop Centerpiece
We wanted to get creative with our centerpiece, so that meant getting busy with paint and some unique supplies to create our own little minions. We flipped over a DIY Flower Box Centerpiece and painted it with Crayola® Yellow Acrylic Paint to represent the characters. To create their signature goggles we used Pint Ball Mason Jar lids and some stickers from a Goggle Pumpkin Decorating Craft Kit. Lastly, we added some of their goofy hair using black Chenille Stems! This simple DIY took only a few minutes and the kids adored it!
The Sweets
Our delicious Minion Banana Pudding Cup Recipe rested atop of our centerpiece creation for a cute and yummy touch. This yellow and blue dessert was as tasty as it was cute! It looked adorable on our place settings too! You can find the full recipe here!
The Favors
Each guest had a custom-made Yellow Favor Box at their place setting to bring home extra sweets and treats after the party. We added a Minions™ Goggles to get this custom Minion look!
