Looking for an original and memorable wedding this fall? A dark & moody fall wedding will have you swooning. Each and every detail of this wedding adds to the romantic moody vibe, from the industrial brick walls, to the dramatic skull centerpiece and lush seasonal color palette.
I started with a rustic tablescape that blends dark, moody colors like black and gray with rich burgundy, pomegranate and copper tones. The woodsy details like moss, wood and dream catchers hanging from the walls accentuate the boho style.
Join me on the dark side and fall in love with this moody boho wedding aesthetic.
The Table
To create a dark & moody tablescape I started with a rustic dark wood table top. On top of this I used a contrasting romantic and whimsical boho Crocheted Table Runner.
In the center of the table I created a clustered boho table centerpiece. Clustered table centerpieces are a hot new wedding trend. They consist of mini arrangements in a variety of different shapes and sizes that are grouped together to create a larger vignette.
I bought in different glassware, votives and woodsy decor to create an eye-catching boho look full of vibrant colors and textures. Find out how to DIY your own clustered centerpiece here.
At each end of the centerpiece and at the very end of the table I incorporated Silvertone Taper Candle Holders spray painted rose gold. I used rich burgundy taper candles in the holders to tie in with the place settings.
At the ends of the table I also used Mercury Bowl With Rose Gold Pedestals full of grapes and a selection of votives; tall Mercury Votive Holders with tops sprayed rose gold and smaller Copper Mercury Glass Votive Candle Holders.
The Place Setting
For the place settings I started with White Scalloped Chargers spray painted black. These grounded the settings and provided a darker, edgier look & feel that is perfect for this aesthetic.
I placed Black Premium Plastic Knives, Forks and Spoons next to the chargers. I served water in a Clear Stemless Plastic Wineglass and a delicious Sparkling Pomegranate Cocktail in a Premium Clear Crystal Plastic Wine Glass. Get the cocktail recipe here.
On top of the charger I layered a gray and Burgundy Plastic Dinner Plate with a burgundy napkin on top.
I used a single pheasant feather as a placecard, using a Chalkboard-Style Placecard at the top of the feather for guests names. I cut the placecard in half, only using the front of the tented card and used a chalk marker to write each guests name on.
The Seats
I used simple black wicker chairs for guest seating, identifying the Bride & Grooms seats with Chalkboard Chair Signs. You can either try your hand at calligraphy, use a template, or have a calligrapher write "Bride" and "Groom" on these. I used my Cricut to cut the names on white vinyl.
The Dessert Table
To compliment the dark boho forest look of the dessert table I hung a burgundy dream catcher. I had this dream catcher at home, but you can learn how to make different types of Boho Dream Catchers here: DIY Boho Dream Catchers. These are perfect, just change out the colors to get a deeper palette.
On the tabletop I cut up Moss Table Runners to fit the circular table and added Green Moss for a textured forest floor look & feel. I then layered Antler Table Tossers, pomegranates, figs and fall foliage along with Copper Mercury Glass Votive Candle Holders to complete the look.
On one side of the table I added a tabletop welcome sign. This is super easy to create and personalize, get all the steps & supplies here.
To display the desserts I picked the Rustic Centerpiece Riser Set in natural earthy tones. I love using split levels on the dessert table no matter how big or small to create visual interest for the eye.
These delicious s'mores cupcakes are topped with a slice of chocolate, a blackberry and brown sugar and are wrapped in rich metallic rose gold foil cupcake wrappers.
To enhance the romantic vibe of this table I used votive lighting. A trio of Mercury Votive Holders sprayed rose gold on top of a Wood Large Round Centerpiece.
The Cake
I placed the cake on top of a gray boho wicker side table, giving it height with boxes covered in black & cream furs. I used the same mix of Moss Table Runners, Green Moss, Antler Table Tossers, pomegranates, figs and fall foliage on top of the table for continuity.
I placed the 2-tier naked cake from Confection Deception on top of a Wood Pattern Cake Stand.
I kept the cake decor simple, a mix of figs, pomegranate seeds and berries. Cutting some of the figs in half to give more texture. I found an old hunting trophy in a thrift store that I used for the cake topper. Removing the stag from the trophy and spray painting it rose gold.
Above the cake I hung a Vintage Wood Chandelier. The floral chandelier trend is one I have fallen in love with. It adds an additional beautiful dimension to the decor.
The chandelier comes with small hooks on the inside. I strung craft wire between the hooks and then wove live fall foliage through the strands of wire. The grevillea, hypericum berry, smoke bush and richly colored dahlias and carnations are so vibrant and drape beautifully.
The result is a gorgeous floral frame over the cake table, a stunning addition to your cake cutting pictures!
