Turning 10 is sweet! Frosting, sprinkles and cupcakes galore, you’re invited to battle for the cupcake crown at this creative Cupcake Wars-themed birthday party. My daughter is obsessed with watching Cupcake Wars on Netflix and is always begging anyone who will let her in their kitchen to make cupcakes with her. When it came time to plan her birthday party, it was a no brainer that we would be hosting our very own Cupcake Wars competition with a Cupcake Wars Birthday Party.
This sweet party called for a fun dessert table. We started by creating a colorful backdrop with the hot pink and mint green paper fans. I wrote "10 is Sweet" on a chalkboard and hung it from the center of the backdrop. The table was draped with the mint green and pink tassel garland for another bright pop of color. This dessert table was set to serve as the decorating station for our Cupcake Wars Party. I filled the small glass jar set with a variety of sprinkles and candy. Our pint-sized bakers could use these sweet treats to decorate their cupcakes or they could fill one of the mini popcorn boxes with goodies to take home.
While this was a friendly competition we wanted everyone to be together for all the fun, so we set up a long table in front of the dessert station for each of the girls to sit and work on their masterpieces.
We set the table with the donut square plates, donut sprinkle napkins, hot pink forks and these adorable milk bottles with lids and straws. In front of each place setting were mini cupcake pedestals for the girls to display their cupcake creations. We also used the donut sprinkle bags to add a little extra pizzaz to our bags of icing. Once I filled the icing bags, I cut the donut sprinkle bags open and wrapped them around the plain icing bags. I love how it tied every element of the party together!
For our Cupcake Wars Party we focused on the decorating portion of the competition rather than the baking part. Before the party I baked lots of Very Vanilla Confetti Cupcakes and set them out for the girls to decorate. Then we let them loose with the sprinkles, candy and decorations.
It was lots of fun to watch the girls and see how individual and unique each of their creations were. Of course, we couldn't have a Cupcake Wars competition without a few awards. Everyone left with a DIY Cupcake Trophy and of course, lots of sweet treats. Once the party was over, the girls grabbed cupcake boxes to take home the cupcakes they didn't devour at the party.
This was such a fun party and it definitely made my sweet little baker happy! Want more cupcake party inspiration? Be sure to check out our DIY Cupcake Invitations, DIY Cupcake Aprons, DIY Cupcake Trophy and the yummy recipe for the Very Vanilla Confetti Cupcakes we used at our Cupcake Wars Party.
