Take a step away from the ever-popular Disney princess birthday parties and put the spotlight on one of most cunning and misunderstood Disney villains of all time; Cruella. Disney's Cruella became a box office hit this past summer; a mere 60 years after their original animated classic, 101 Dalmatians. This new take leaves behind those cute Dalmatian puppies and delves into the character of Estella and all the twists and turns her life took to transform her into the Cruella we know and admire today.
We dressed our table in a black, patent leather snakeskin print fabric that we thought was the perfect embodiment of our cunning character.
This was a lucky thrift store find so if you're not able to find anything similar, simply use a Black Polyester Tablecloth.
We used two different pieces of card stock for the base of each place setting to bring some color and pattern to the table.
We started with a deep, Red Metallic Cardstock and then layered a piece of black and white Cardstock on top of it.
Metallic Red Hexagon Paper Plates were placed on top of black charger plates.
A custom menu was printed on White Cardstock and placed on top of a piece of Cruella-themed fabric we happened upon at our local fabric store.
A Black Napkin was cinched together with Red Tulle and a small scrap of the Cruella fabric.
Each place setting was completed with a Black Plastic Patterned Wine Glass filled with Cruella's signature cocktail.
For our table's centerpiece a gallon jar was wrapped in more of that fabulous Cruella fabric and housed a dozen red roses.
We then placed Alphabet Stickers spelling out "The Future" onto a DIY Mask and proceeded to add a light, spastic coating of Black Acrylic Paint. Once dry, we removed the Stickers and were left with our stenciled sentiment detailed with a luxurious, black Feather.
This DIY idea was a way to pay homage to one of Cruella's statement pieces she used to demonstrate her born and bred fashion mastery to The Baroness.
DIY Picture Frames were painted with Black and White Acrylic Paint to mimic Cruella's iconic coif.
We detailed the frames with Studded Leather Trim and filmed them with our FREE Printable Signs with two of Cruella's most famous quotes from the movie.
Glass Hurricane Vases were painted Black and detailed with more of the Studded Leather Trim .
Bouquets of Faux White Peonies were splatter painted with Black Acrylic Paint and mixed with red roses.
We found miniature sewing mannequins and added a strip of Red Tulle to each one for a bit of fashion flair. We then scattered the mannequins throughout the tablescape.
Our party table sat in front of a dramatic black and white backdrop made of Black and White Fadeless® Bulletin Board Paper.
We used our Cricut to create the name of our vindictive villain in Red Adhesive Vinyl and centered it on our backdrop.
Dalmatian spots were cut from Black Cardstock and adhered to the white portion of the backdrop using Glue Dots.
A sewing mannequin stood on one side of the backdrop and dawned a custom Cruella Creation.
On the other side we had two Gold Geometric Stands, one Small and one Large. We painted both stands black and stacked them one on top of the other to form a "T" shape.
A piece of cardboard was cut to fit the top portion of the stand and covered in our Cruella fabric so it could serve as a small dessert bar for our sweets like these custom Cruella-inspired cookies by Pink Skirt Desserts.
We hope you enjoyed our take on one of our favorite Disney villains and are inspired to create your very own Cruella-inspired party this Halloween!
