Kara from Kara's Party Ideas shared the news of a new baby girl with a homemade balloon drop. Cover the outside of a box with black acrylic paint using foam brushes. Once dried, use a white chalk marker to draw designs and write "Baby is a..." on the outside of the box. Fill the box with balloons (pink or blue) and confetti (pink or blue). Seal the box with tape and hang from the ceiling with twine. Add extra twine to the bottom of the box so the mom-to-be can pull easily and let the balloons fall. Kelsey from We Heart Parties set up this precious pumpkin gender reveal and party. Perfect for an autumn announcement, use mint and orange hanging paper fans to create a backdrop, then dress up a mint tassel garland using some deconstructed pumpkin food picks. If your space feels sparse, throw a few extra orange honeycomb tissue balls under the table. Create baby pumpkins per the step-by-step instructions, adorn sweets with lil' pumpkin treat toppers and fill Halloween candy buckets with popcorn, cookies and snacks. Serve drinks in mini pumpkin cups. For the actual reveal, make a DIY pumpkin gender reveal balloon by filling an orange balloon with blue or pink confetti and tying it off with a mint tassel garland "stem." (PS: In need of party favors? Fill jack-o-lantern favor pails with orange chevron buttermints and pumpkin lollipops.)

Have friends and family who can't find out baby's gender in person? Send them an adorable egg package designed by Jess from Style Me Pretty. Begin by poking holes in both ends of an egg with a toothpick, then use a straw to blow into one end of the egg to push the yoke out the other, then run water through to rinse. (Psst: Jess says to make a couple of extra in case some break.) Dissolve a tablet of blue or pink egg dye per the package instructions in a large bowl. Add enough water to cover the eggs, then, with a gloved hand, hold each egg underwater until it fills with dye and sits at the bottom of the bowl. Let eggs soak until they reach your desired shade, then carefully remove and leave overnight to dry. Cover each egg with several generous coats of white paint or spray paint to conceal the dye on the outside. Cut several small pieces of paper and write "it's a boy!" or "it's a girl!" and carefully tuck it inside the egg, along with a few pieces of appropriately colored confetti. Cover the holes with white tissue paper and glue, then place in gift boxes with plenty of cushioning. Print and add "What Will Baby Be" and "Crack Me Open to Find Out" labels as shown, then seal the box with washi tape and send.

Turn your gender reveal into a fun party game with this DIY piñata by The House That Lars Built. Following the instructions, cut the shapes for your stork out of cardboard and tape them together to form the bird, then paint the cardboard white. While it dries, create webbed feet out of chenille stems and wrap them in orange streamers or crepe paper. Cut white tissue paper to serve as stork feathers, then glue or tape onto the dried stork. Create a cone-shaped beak out of paper and wrap it in leftover orange streamers, then attach to the bird. Use black crepe paper to add details and facial features. Cut a hole in the top and add pink or blue candy, plus two additional holes to run string through and hang.

Involve older siblings in the reveal with this playdough idea by Jenae from I Can Teach My Child. Use your favorite plain play dough recipe (or borrow this one). This DIY gender reveal confetti cannon by Shauna from Momtastic is sure to make for an impactful moment! Grab a few toilet paper rolls (or paper towel rolls cut down) and print the appropriate number of free printable covers. Use scissors to cut a balloon. Discard the tie-off portion, then pull the remainder over one of the ends of the toilet paper roll. Wrap the printed cover around the tube and tape together. Fill your cannon with confetti, placing gender-neutral confetti on top to make sure no one can see the blue or pink inside. Set cannons on a table standing up, then when it's time to reveal, have guests pull back on the balloon and let go. (PS: If you'd rather skip the DIY, we've done the work for you – buy pre-made pink or blue confetti poppers.)
