Fall is my favorite season, and I love the feeling of coziness, changing colors, and cooler temperatures that come with it. Our fireplace mantel is the first place I start to cozy up our home for fall. For this mantel, I incorporated all my favorite aspects of the season – the brightly colored leaves, pretty pumpkins and gourds, and flickering candlelight. I added a few pieces I made myself too like these modern leaf pumpkins and colorful fall leaf wreath. Step 1: Start with an eye-catching wreath. I love hanging a wreath over the mantel, and I think they look especially nice draped over a large mirror. See how easy it is to make this fall leaf wreath using pre-cut felt leaves. 
Step 2: Add a tall arrangement on one side of the mantel. I painted these artificial leaves orange to match the other colors of the decor. It is nice to have one taller piece to draw your eye upward and create some asymmetry. 
Step 3: Add in pumpkins and gourds. I incorporated two of these modern fall leaf pumpkins along with several smaller metallic pumpkins and gourds. Rather than sitting them all directly on the mantel, I used stacked books covered with wrapping paper (or craft paper) and mini hay bales to vary their height.

Download the Free Mantel Printables here! I displayed the 5x7 prints in wood frames that I painted orange and yellow. For the candlelight, I used this pair of orange metal lanterns with LED flameless candles inside, but you can use lanterns in any color you like.
