Do you have a little cowgirl or equestrian rider at home? If your child is anything like mine (in LOVE with all things horse and pony) they will absolutely fall for this stunning horse themed cowgirl birthday party. You'll love how easily you can create this theme at home with gorgeous horse party supplies, my styling tips and some simple DIY party projects!
Overhead Cowgirl Hat Chandelier
Start with a focal point above you party table. This DIY chandelier made from beautifully decorated cowgirl hats will magically transform the room, bringing the horse theme to life in such a unique way. It captured our horse loving guests' attention immediately! Get the simple DIY tutorial for a cowgirl hat chandelier here.
Each hat can be uniquely decorated and double as a take home favor or room decor after the party.
Horseshoe Themed Table
Start setting your main party table by covering the table-top with the Horseshoe Plastic Tablecloth Roll. In the middle of the table, place a Small Pink Hydrangea Wreath on top of a small Faux Galvanized Treat Stand Riser. Place the horseshoe from the Horse Centerpiece inside the wreath and accent this with a Flocked Horse with Saddle. At each end of the table add a Lace Trim Votive Holder and Clear Gold Trim Votive Holder on top of a Truly Scrumptious Doily.
Tip: If your child has toy horses you can add them to the ends of the table as additional themed accents.
A Paddock Picnic
Whether you're celebrating at a barn or at home, you can create the feel of a picnic in a field filled with horses. Start with a White Doily Placemat and set the table with cute individual DIY Kids Picnic Basket.
Filled with lunch essentials and treats in cute Horseshoe Drawstring Favor Bags, the kids will love being able to take advantage of moving around with their snacks. Get the step-by-step tutorial for these adorable DIY Kids Picnic Baskets here.
Next to each setting display treats, like these gorgeous horse cookies, by Trophy Baking, on Truly Scrumptious Doilies.
Don't forget to add a Cowboy Boot Plastic Mug with a Pink Polka Dot Paper Straw to each setting for beverages. Give the boot a pretty makeover with pink paint, a 2" strip of Light Pink Bandana tied around the top and a small pink floral accent.
Tip: Protect the top rim of the mug before painting to ensure the mug is still safe to drink from.
Shabby Chic Food Display
Create a stunning backdrop for party food, drinks and desserts using a Backdrop Banner Frame. I used a pink ruffled shower curtain (yes a shower curtain!) I had at home on my frame. You could also use draping fabric or a Light Pink Plastic Tablecloth to create a similar effect.
Center the backdrop behind the dessert table. Hang a Horse Silhouette Garland across the top of the frame and add a decorated Cowboy Hats to each corner of the frame. I removed the blue bandana and replaced it with a Light Pink Bandana to tie in with the rest of the party decor.
Wild & Free
On one side of the dessert table set up a stunning White Horse Stand-Up. This large horse was a favorite for our party guests and the girls loved taking photos with it!
The Watering Hole
On the other side of the dessert table set up a watering hole for refilling drinks. I used a small farm stand I had at home to hold the Beverage Dispensers and elevated them using Stained Wood Centerpiece Boxes.
Use Truly Scrumptious Doilies and flowers from the Blush Floral Bouquet to decorate the top of the dispensers.
I don't know about your kids at parties, but mine always seem to forget which cup or mug is theirs. I always like to provide a few extras just in case! Add spare mugs to a Galvanized Metal Tray with Handles lined with a White Doily Placemats.
As I mentioned above if your child has horse toys repurpose them as decorative accents. I also made small floral wreaths to hang around their necks using wire and hydrangeas.
Lengths of rustic rope also make a fun decorative accent and may even be used as entertainment! Add a Pink Rose & Hydrangea Faux Floral Bouquet to soften the look.
A Trophy Winning Dessert Table
To set your dessert table, start with a Light Pink Plastic Tablecloth and lay a White Lace Plastic Tablecloth Roll over the top.
In the center of the table, elevate the cake to create a stunning focal point with this DIY Rustic Cake Stand & Topper. Follow our simple tutorial here to create your own.
To create a pretty, vintage vibe fill the table with flowers! On one side of the table display a Faux Floral Bouquet in a White Ceramic Farmhouse Pitcher. Elevate the pitcher to tie in with the display on the other side of the table using a Stained Wood Centerpiece Box. Decorate the box to match the rustic cake riser like we did here.
Use Horse Centerpieces as decorative accents in front of your flowers.
Display cookies or other sweet treats on a Galvanized Metal Tray and make sure to provide Horse Party Luncheon Napkins nearby as well.
On the other side of the table I used a trophy to display another Faux Floral Bouquet.
Serve up rustic pies or other treats in a Tiered Galvanized Metal Serving Tray. A fun food for the bottom level is a tray of apples since we all know horses love apples!
Provide Horse Party Paper Dessert Plates for cake and pie in a cute Oval Galvanized Bucket.
At each end of the table add a Lace Trim Votive Holder and Clear Gold Trim Votive Holder on top of a Truly Scrumptious Doily.
Let's Foal Around!
Your little horse lovers will be obsessed with this spin on a classic game. Use Pacon® Fadeless® Weathered Wood Paper to easily create the look and feel of a barn and put the Pin the Tail on the Horse Game up on the barn wall! Spin the kids around and enjoy the hilarity that ensues!
Place the spare tails in a bucket below the game. Luckily the game comes plenty of spares. Decorate the floor and spin zone with Horseshoe Floor Clings. These can also be used to pave the way to the party or create a fun jumping game.
More than a One Trick Pony!
There are so many cute and affordable options for take home favors! Set up a favor station in the "barn" using the Premium Hay Bales Scene Backdrop. This can also double as a super fun photo booth! We decorated around the "barn" with Horse Party Mylar Balloons as well.
Use larger Decorative Straw Hay Bales as display risers and Small Hay Bales as decorative accents. Wrap the hay bales with Extra Large White Doilies and secure in place by tying with a 2" strip of Light Pink Bandana.
Place Horse-Shaped Lollipops into the large hay bales to keep them upright.
The Mini Horse Stable Favor Boxes are my absolute favorite item in the Horse Party Range. They are adorable! They have trophies and horseshoes on two sides and the cutest horses on the remaining sides. They're the perfect size for macarons and other sweet treats.
For wrapped candies or small craft items the Horseshoe Drawstring Favor Bags are the perfect size.
Lay out Horse Sticker Sheets for the kids to take home too. There are plenty of stickers included so guests can take more than one sheet. Use either the prepackaged Horses Exchange Packs or fill a Short Round Pedestal Jar with a selection of Horses for the kids to chose from. Add a pretty accent to the jar by gluing a strip of bandana and some florals around the top edge.
Set out Medium Western Paper Gift Bags to make it easier for party guests to take all their favors home. There is plenty of room to even add a cookie! Use a Truly Scrumptious Doily to decoupage a DIY Unfinished Wood Horseshoe and add to each bag as a pretty accent.
Time to saddle up and enjoy this pretty Horse Birthday Party! Yee-Haw!
