Yeehaw there's gonna be a new little sheriff in town! Designing a cowboy or cowgirl themed party can sometimes lean a little too kitschy, but a fresh color palette with vintage touches soften the overall feel of this cute gender reveal party. The end result has a feminine look perfectly geared towards the mama-to-be who wants to remain close to her western roots. Will the new little buckaroo be cowboy blue or cowgirl pink? We've got a western chic voting station for you to tell us what you think! Be sure to stick around until the very end for a gender reveal game to find out the baby's gender. So, grab your partner, saddle up and mosey on over for a gender reveal showdown!
In order to evoke the feeling of a graceful ranch, as opposed to the wild west, we chose a soft color palette of pale pink, light blue and a fresh, minty green. Pastel colors can sometimes read more on the cold side, so we sprinkled in touches of natural wood here and there to provide a warmer look to the space.
Decor with Chic Western Flair
The main focal point of the room was definitely the back wall of the room, which was peppered with an array of western hats. Hanging the hats was a cinch thanks to Mini Clothespins that were hot glued to the inner rim of each hat. We then simply clipped them onto removable adhesive hooks hung at various heights.
Each hat was adorned with either a strip from a Classic Navy Bandana and a pale pink painted Deputy Sheriff Badge, or an array flowers from a combination of Blush Rose Faux Floral Bouquets, Faux Floral Bouquets with Mixed Greenery and Pink and Purple Spring Faux Floral Bouquets.
The end result was stunning and the best part of all was the hats could serve as a stylish parting gift for guests!
A simple garland, created by gluing strips cut from a Classic Navy Bandana onto alternating light blue and light pink painted DIY Unfinished Wood Horseshoes, graced the vintage screen door that stood behind our dessert table and added to the overall look of our backdrop.
The center of the dessert table was dressed up with a Cowboy Boot Plastic Mug turned vase, filled with a bouquet of flowers, and a few painted stacked Farm Animal Figures that sat upon a Small Hay Bale. Placing them atop a wooden crate gave them prominence and assured they would not be overlooked.
We tucked a comfy light blue ticking striped chair into our window alcove to act as a cozy gift opening niche for the mama-to-be. A small balloon garland comprised of light blue, light pink and cow print balloons hung overhead. Sprigs of greenery were tucked in here and there for added flair.
A vintage metal basket sat nearby waiting to be filled with gifts. Our theme was carried over thanks to the addition of a small cluster of balloons and decorated western hat.
Farm Animals with Style
We created a three-part feminine centerpiece that included farm animals and western garb that read more stylish and chic than overly western. We began by forming a runner from a Blue Gingham Plastic Tablecloth Roll that ran down the center of our table.
An Adult's Western Hat, dressed up with a combination of flowers from a Blush Rose Faux Floral Bouquet and a Faux Floral Bouquet with Mixed Greenery, sat in the center of the dining table.
Light blue and light pink painted Farm Animal Figures were stacked three high atop Small Hay Bales and sat on either side of the decorated hat in the center. Cowboy Boot Plastic Mugs were painted light pink and then filled with an array of flowers from Blush Rose Faux Floral Bouquets, Faux Floral Bouquets with Mixed Greenery and Pink and Purple Spring Faux Floral Bouquets. Placing them on the outer end of our centerpieces was an easy way to balance out the overall look of the table.
The hay bales and cowboy boot vases were both wrapped with strips of fabric torn from a Classic Navy Bandana and adorned with light blue painted Deputy Sheriff Badges for a cohesive feel.

Hit the Trail with Chic Place Settings
Bringing elements of a party's theme onto the table helps evoke a polished look. We continued with subtle hints of western flair to create simple yet chic place settings.
We made sure the mama-to-be was picture perfect and fit in with the decor by placing a flower adorned western hat on the back of her chair.
We adore the layered approach to our place settings. Light Pink Paper Dessert Plates sat atop Navy Blue Gingham Paper Dinner Plates next to Silvertone Hammered Forks that had been dipped in light blue paint. The forks rested upon Pink Cowgirl Luncheon Napkins, which were reminiscent of pink bandanas. The mixing and matching of colors and patterns brought a playful touch to the table to ensure it felt more down-home than stuffy.
DIY Unfinished Wood Horseshoes were painted light blue and then adorned with greenery and small pink flowers. They sat in the center of each place setting and acted as sweet thank you gifts for guests.
Silver Rimmed Plastic Tumblers that held Cow Print Paper Straws tied up with a strip of fabric torn from a Light Pink Bandana, rounded out each place setting.
Sweets & Such
Our dessert table held a little something for everyone and ranged from salty to sweet.
Berry baskets, dressed up with navy bandanas and sheriff badges, held white cheddar popcorn for those with salty cravings and were stacked high in a vintage minty green cubby shelf. A row of Round Favor Jars, filled with pink, white and blue chocolate candies, sat in the middle row and were tied with Light Pink Bandana fabric strips and topped with painted Farm Animal Figures for a touch of whimsy. A vintage stirrup, adorned with greenery and flowers, sat nearby and held another painted farm animal.
A two-tiered naked cake sat at the opposite end of our table atop a mint green cake plate that helped balance out the look of the table.
A vintage milk glass pedestal bowl held a mix of simple pink and blue frosted cookies next to our cake. The outside portion of a Short Round Pedestal Jar could be painted white for a similar look.
Our cake was wrapped with a band of fabric cut from a Light Pink Bandana and topped with a light blue painted DIY Unfinished Wood Horseshoe and blooms from a Blush Rose Faux Floral Bouquet to tie in with the theme. Chocolate dipped and graham cracker dusted marshmallow "s'mores" were cleverly served on sticks from a vintage chicken feeder that was filled with bits from a Small Hay Bale.
Your Vote Is WANTED!
Guessing whether the new babe would be a cowboy or cowgirl has never been cuter and more stylish than the voting station we created. We dressed up a hat with a Classic Navy Bandana and rose blooms to hold the votes and then sat it next to our sheriff badge decorated frame that held a free printable voting "wanted" sign that you can download here. A DIY Unfinished Wood Mini Crate, wrapped with a Light Pink Bandana and embellished with a DIY Unfinished Wood Horseshoe, corralled pencils in a Clear Hobnail Glass Votive along with free printable voting cards.
Guests wrote their guesses on the free printable voting cards found here, and then tucked them into the small hole in the top of the hat. Those who guessed correctly took home one of the decorated hats from our backdrop! You can find all the steps to create your own Cowboy or Cowgirl Gender Reveal Voting Station here.
Hit the Bullseye with this Fun Gender Reveal Showdown!
We transformed a Stained Wood Sign into a game that was just as chic as it was functional. Pink, white, gray and blue adhesive vinyl was cut and applied to the sign to create the "cowboy or cowgirl" words and center bullseye. The sign then received a bit of western flair in the form of light blue painted Deputy Sheriff Badges and light pink painted DIY Unfinished Wood Horseshoes. We loved how the sign blended in with the overall decor of the party.
Towards the end of the party, the sign was taken outdoors for the fun part - revealing the baby's gender! Farm Animal Squirt Toys were filled with pink or blue paint by a trusted friend who kept the secret. The paint was then squirted at the bullseye on the sign by the mama and daddy-to-be. Guests kept track of the number of animals that squirted each color and the color that was squirted the most revealed the answer!
