There's nothing like a good old-fashioned western cowboy party to celebrate a birthday or special occasion! Talk about a classic, fun theme suitable for all ages. Cowboy parties are one of my favorite parties to style. I love all the rustic decorations inspired by the Wild West. I'm excited to share how you can create a fun western themed cowboy party for your little partner!
Cowboy Birthday Party Decorations
Whenever I style a party, I like to "set the scene" with a fun backdrop. For our cowboy party, I created a fun western scene by constructing a backdrop with Fadeless® Weathered Wood Paper Rolls and cardboard. I constructed a Trading Post for the main table backdrop as well as a Jail for a fun photo booth scene. The Western Party Directional Sign Cardboard Stand-Up added just the right touch of wild west; my favorite part being the "outhouse" sign. Guests should always know where that is! Cowboy Birthday Party Dessert Table
Once the backdrop was set, I covered a tabletop with Burlap Fabric and set it on top of my DIY Wine Barrel Props. For the snacks and desserts, I set out my set of rustic tin cake stands for display. I filled Bandana Print Popcorn Boxes with cheese popcorn and added Mustache Picks on top for fun. I also crafted a few horse silhouettes with my cutting machine and hot glued them on to Bandana Print Paper Straws for my cupcakes. I also whipped up a batch of my our favorite Rootin' Tootin' Trail Mix and added mustache picks. You can find my delicious and easy recipe HERE.
I added Cow Print Paper Straws to caramel apples and decorated the tables with Rusty Barbwire Cord. Cowboy Birthday Party Favors
There are so many fun choices when it comes to party favors for cowboy themed parties. I decided to use Horse Treat Bags for loot and filled them with candy. I also filled Cowboy Boot Plastic Mugs with bandanas and Deputy Sheriff Badges. Every cowboy needs a fun outfit and a bag of loot, right? Plus, guests love it when they get party favors they can actually use after the party! I know I'd love a tall glass of ice-cold root beer in a fun plastic cowboy mug!
Cowboy Birthday Games and Activities
Cowboy themed parties are also great for interactive play. I know my boys always loved to dress up and play cowboys and bandits! I also wanted to add a fun party activity to the mix, so I created a Monogram Letter Art craft. You can see my tutorial HERE for all the details. This easy craft makes a great keepsake as well as a personalized gift for any little cowboy or cowgirl!
To add a competitive play, I created a fun Cactus Rope Toss Game. This game is great for all kids and adults too! I've shared how you can create one too HERE. In my opinion, you can't have a western party without some fun party props and a photo booth! I set up a little prop corner with a Collapsible Faux Hay Bale and a few props including a Kids' Cowboy Hats. After all, no one can resist posing in a jail cell with a prop or two!
