Who has two silly googly eyes, a mat of bright blue fur and an obsession with cookies? That's right, it's Cookie Monster! This blue, brown and polka dotted party is packed full of milk, cookies and adorable Cookie Monster details that create a chic yet youthful approach to this classic kid favorite! With some delicious DIY treats, simple custom Cookie Monster cupcakes and a Cookie and Milk bar, this party is sure to please your own little Sesame Street enthusiast!
The Table
The table was layered in a bright white linen topped with a layer of blue gossamer. Running down the center of our table we created a simple and yummy table runner inspired by Cookie Monster's favorite treat, chocolate chip cookies!
Using a bit of kraft paper and a few chocolate chips made from card stock, this runner gave the table the perfect look.
The Place Settings
For each place setting we mimicked the look of our table runner and created cookie-inspired place mats using card stock and a hole punch.
We whipped up some homemade Cookie Monster plates by layering a blue dessert plate on top of a blue dinner plate and creating Cookie Monster's famous googly eyes with card stock.
The guests loved enjoying all of their birthday snacks on these silly plates!
To the right of each place setting sat a refreshing serving of ice cold milk in milk bottles.
Each bottle was topped with a chocolate chip cookie treat and finished with a striped paper straw.
To the left of each setting sat a miniature cookie jar dressed up with a chocolate colored bow and some delicious chocolate candies in blue foil wrapping.
To the side sat coordinating blue cutlery.
The Centerpiece
We wanted to introduce a bit of brightness to the heavier blue and brown color palette and stark white marquee letters reading "COOKIE" did just the trick! We loved how they looked on our chocolate chip cookie inspired table runner.
The Backdrop and Cookie and Milk Bar
Everyone knows that Cookie Monster's favorite treat is chocolate chip cookies! We wanted to tie that concept into our DIY Cookie Monster Party Backdrop and Cookie Bar. The backdrop was clad in coordinating blue gossamer and a strip of kraft paper with paper chocolate chips that read "C is for Cookie and Milk Bar".
Flanking each side of the signage were brown and white polka dotted paper fans.
Running along the front of our buffet was a mix of colorful blue, white and gold tassels which added a fun and playful touch to our table.
The bar had a yummy array of sweet treats and more milk to go along with them.
The Snacks
We wanted to keep all of our treats themed, so it seemed only necessary to create some adorable Cookie Monster-inspired treats.
These Cookie Monster Cupcakes are not only adorable but they are exceedingly easy to make and a great alternative to a big cake.
Kids loved biting into these tasty treats only to find a gooey chocolate center. Of course the cookie on top was a huge hit as well!
We wanted to send our guests home with a tasty favor worthy of Cookie Monster himself. These DIY Chocolate Oat Crunch Favors tasted as delicious as they were adorable!
With a silly Cookie Monster face on each favor box and plenty of cookies, oats and chocolate, these favors were perfect!
Guests were also able to take home some miniature chocolate chip cookies which were packaged up in petite blue favor boxes and topped with a sweet chocolate colored bow.
Fresh and soft baked chocolate chip cookies were served up in plastic cookie jars for guests to snack on as they pleased.
Lastly, when you are snacking on yummy sweet treats, you need something refreshing to go along with them! We served up more milk in glass beverage jars which rested on white cake pedestals. Guests could help themselves to as many refills as they wanted. We hope you gathered some fun DIY party ideas so you can throw your own Cookie Monster birthday party soon!
