construction trunk or treat kraft paper

Begin by lining the trunk with a kraft paper roll. You'll also want to crumple up some kraft paper to place around the front of the trunk to create the look of piles of dirt. We recommend using packing tape or Gorilla® tape to secure decorations both inside and outside of the trunk.

Next, secure the orange pennant banner to the edge of the open trunk. Remove the construction icons from Construction Hanging Swirl Decorations. Attach the icons to the orange pennant banner. To finish the top of the trunk, assemble three of the 3-D cinder blocks and attach them to the top of the open trunk.

Now for the inside of the trunk. Place a flower box upside down in one corner. You can use this as a shelf for decorations. Inflate the bright tools and place them toward the back of the trunk. Add colorful traffic cones in front of the inflatable tools and on the flower box shelf to form a sort of barrier for the inflatable tools. Attach two lengths of God at Work Construction Zone Streamer across the back of the trunk in an X shape. Finally, set up the construction prize punch game and place it in the center of your trunk. Place plastic construction hats on each side of the game.

Cinder Block Stand-ups

To decorate outside the trunk, assemble the construction truck cardboard stand-up and place it slightly to one side of the trunk. Inflate the jack hammer and lean it against the trunk. Put together the remaining 3-D cinderblocks and stack them on the ground around the open trunk. If you need to rearrange your crumpled kraft paper (or add more), this is a great time to do it.

construction trunk or treat handouts

What's a construction-themed trunk without some construction-themed goodies?! Craft kits, slap bracelets, bendables, stress toys and tool-shaped lollipops are all fun choices kids love.

construction trunk or treat social distance

With potential social distancing measures in place with your trunk or treat this year, there are lots of ways to make trunk or treat fun and safe for everyone! Build stanchions to keep distance between cars and encourage social distancing. To make your own stanchions, fill galvanized pails with gravel. Place a garden stake in each pail and then slide a black craft noodle over each one. Finish your stanchions by pushing a foam pumpkin over the top of each garden stake. You can now tie plastic streamers from one stanchion to another to create dividers to use between cars or to mark social distancing areas. In addition, volunteers who are handing out candy can use grabbers to avoid picking up the candy and also wear Halloween themed face masks to help keep everyone safe. Remember to have some hand sanitizer available so it's easy for everyone to keep their hands clean.

A construction themed trunk or treat is a popular choice for the whole crew. With these tips and ideas, you can create your very own construction site for an amazing trunk or treat Halloween. For even more inspiration, take a look at our top trunk or treat ideas
