Adding a V.I.P box to your class is an easy way to engage your class in making positive behavior choices throughout the year. Use it for table point winners, student birthdays and to celebrate behavior and academic milestones. They are easy to assemble, implement and they work with any behavior system that already exists in the class. These V.I.P boxes are a great option for teachers with flexible or alternative seating in the classroom.
At this time of the year, your class may become a little antsy, chatty, a little too comfortable. So, instead of throwing in the towel and starting over with an entirely new behavior system, how about simply adding to it in a manageable and positive way? Let me introduce you to my friend, the V.I.P Box.
You may have heard of a V.I.P table, or an extra desk in the classroom reserved for one star student to sit at each day as a special reward. I had a V.I.P table last year and the students loved it. However, this year I have included a lot of flexible seating options in my room, so I knew I needed to get rid of the desk and find a more mobile V.I.P option...enter in, the V.I.P box!
This simple to make, yet powerful classroom management tool simply a caddie filled with all sorts of fun supplies and things that kids can use for the day. For example, why use regular glue when you can have glitter glue instead? These V.I.P boxes are easy to assemble and the possibilities are endless. First off, I knew that I had to have these 3 Compartment Classroom Storage Caddies because they came in a pack of six and were the perfect size. I liked the idea of having more than one V.I.P caddie, that way I could honor more than one student at a time. I filled these caddies with all sorts of fancy school supplies that I knew the students would be excited to use. These goodies included: Premium Jeweltone Glitter Glue Pens, Crayola® Colored Pencils, Crayola® Glitter Markers and a student favorite Crayola® Erasable Highlighters. Highlighters...that erase! The student's could not believe it.
Slime is all the rage right now, I included some Iridescent Glitter Putty Eggs into the V.I.P box for the students to use during silent reading.
Since the students are sitting all over the classroom with our alternative seating options, I also added a V.I.P Clipboard that they get to use with the caddie. I put a V.I.P vinyl sticker on each of Rainbow Clipboards and if a student earns the V.I.P Box for the day, then they also get to sign their name on it using these fabulous Sharpie® Metallic Fine Point Permanent Markers.
At the end of the day, when the students return the V.I.P supplies, they receive one of these Personalized Classic Color Pencils to keep.
Students can earn the V.I.P Box in many different ways. I use it to promote positive behavior, for student birthdays as well as celebrating academic or behavior milestones. The students love using these fun supplies for the day. It is such an easy positive behavior management tool to implement at any time of the year. They are easy to assemble and maintain, which is a win-win for this busy teacher.
