Whether you're in class socially distanced or doing all virtual learning online, your students still want to celebrate special holidays. So why not make Halloween extra special this year with a party in a box? This idea is perfect for socially distanced classroom students as well as those who are celebrating at home. Everything your students need to create some fun this Halloween can be found in their individual party boxes. Check out a few fun ideas below to include in your Halloween party and make sure to download a FREE Halloween themed Zoom background here to set the perfect scene!
To start, I used these black favor boxes and decorated them with fun foam bat stickers. These craft kits are quick to assemble and look adorable added to the black boxes. I used another quick and easy jack-o-lantern craft kit to create a fun tag. On the back of the jack-o-lantern you can write your students' names. The tag has a cute poem you can all read and recite together before opening your box. It tells the legend of the jack-o-lantern. Once the boxes are created for each student I added in a few fun activities we could use together as we celebrate, whether they're at home celebrating online or in school celebrating at their desk.
These scratch off Halloween jokes will surely be an instant hit. Include a few of these in each box and you can call on your students throughout the party to share a fun joke. Just scratch off the circle to reveal the answer. The kids will love these!
Add a fun costume award into each of your Halloween party boxes. You can either ask your students to dress up in something that goes with the award they have received or draw a picture of a costume that would be the weirdest, cutest, funniest etc. This will be a hoot to let them share as a class. For awards that are duplicates you could even hold a costume contest to choose the best from that category.
Add in a few arts and crafts activities so students can create their own sticker scenes. These Halloween craft kits make great Halloween decorations around the classroom or at home. You could also extend this idea into a Halloween story. Students could write their own spooky story using these kits as their settings and main characters. Students could take turns sharing their spooky stories with each other too.
Throw in a few fun stickers and DIY coloring magnets for your students to use as they would like. These also make for fun games that focus on using descriptive vocabulary. On your virtual learning app you could have the students each use describing words about the item they colored and have others try to guess what Halloween creature or critter they have.
Colorful Halloween stickers like monsters and unicorn pumpkins can be used for creating a Halloween themed story problem. Whether it's addition or multiplication, your students can use their stickers to create a word problem to share with the class. Other students can then take turns trying to solve them.
While students are waiting for others to finish work they can color and solve their own Halloween DIY puzzle cube. This also makes for a perfect brain break activity during normal school days.
Once all of your activities have wrapped up you can end your Halloween party fun with a game of Halloween Bingo! Include some individual candy corn packs so your students can use them as markers for their cards. Your kids will love having a day of Halloween fun where they celebrate with their friends whether it's online or socially distanced in the classroom. Make this Halloween one to remember!
