Few things are more magical than the feeling that is felt on Christmas morning. Families are gathered together, and the sense of love and appreciation for each other is so strong it’s almost palpable! Celebrate the coziness of the holiday season with an intimate, classic Christmas Morning Breakfast with your family. We’ll help you create an inviting tablescape, complete with timeless Christmas elements (and a Merry Mimosa Bar) that will set the tone for a special morning with the ones you love most.
Make it Merry!
First things first, let’s make the space merry!
A simple, modern backdrop behind the mimosa station adds a festive vibe to the room and looks so classy! To create it, simply draw arched shapes on the back sides of Black Fadeless® Paper and Tartan Plaid Table Roll, cut them out with scissors, then adhere them to the wall with removable poster strips. I used my Cricut Machine to cut the “Let’s Get Merry” text out of white vinyl, then arranged that on the black paper to complete the backdrop.
If you don’t have a cutting machine, you could always hand cut snowflakes out of white paper and use those on the backdrop instead of the text. If you do have a cutting machine, you can find the link to this text project in Cricut Design Space.
Christmas Morning Mimosas
White DIY Ceramic Christmas Trees arranged on the table provide a gorgeous contrast to the dark colors of the backdrop and give the mimosa station a sophisticated dose of holiday spirit. Flickering candlelight from tea lights tucked inside Mercury Glass Votive Candle Holders adds warmth to the display.
To make the mimosas family-friendly, we mixed up a pitcher of the juice cocktail (cran-apple juice with fresh squeezed orange juice) and served the champagne on the side. This way even the kiddos get to enjoy the special Christmas concoction! (You can add sparkling water or Sprite to their drink to give it some festive fizz).
We opted for Black Plastic Stadium Cups instead of champagne glasses so that the cups were kid-safe, and added some “Merry Mimosa” Stickers to the cups to tie them into the decor. Arranging the cups and cocktail on a Tartan Plaid Serving Tray with some Snowy Pine Picks, DIY Ceramic Glazed Ornaments decorated with a gold metallic marker, fresh berries and fresh oranges gives the mimosa station a cohesive look.
Lights All Aglow
Christmas is synonymous with lights all aglow, so incorporating some lights into our decor seemed like a natural thing to do. We spray painted DIY Houses black, then strung fairy lights inside to give each house a warm glow. We arranged Tabletop Evergreen Trees and DIY Ceramic Christmas Tree Ornaments around the houses to create our own little Christmas village.
A Snowy Centerpiece
Once the mimosa station is all set up, it’s time to decorate the dining table! We are obsessed with these snow-kissed White Sisal Bottle Brush Christmas Trees and love how they look lined up along the center of the table! Sprigs of Snowy Pine Picks arranged in between the trees adds texture and marries the elements together into a unified centerpiece.
As mentioned in the mimosa station setup, we used a permanent gold metallic marker to add simple designs to DIY Ceramic Glazed Ornaments. We then arranged them all around the trees and pine picks, along with Frosted Pine Cones, Nutcracker Christmas Ornaments and more Mercury Glass Votive Candle Holders.
Perfectly Plaid Place Settings
Tartan plaid and Christmas go hand in hand, so we were so excited to be able to incorporate these stunning Tartan Plaid Paper Dinner Plates into our Classic Christmas Breakfast tablescape!
Nutcrackers are another Christmas classic, and the colors in these Nutcracker Ceramic Mugs coordinate perfectly with the plaid plates. Red Luncheon Napkins and Ornate Gold Cutlery round out each place setting.
To add a pretty finishing touch at each seat, we placed a DIY Ceramic Christmas Tree Ornament atop each plate. We used red velvet yarn to tie a “Be Merry” tag to each tree, that could later be added to the family Christmas tree when the meal is over.
Merry Christmas!
It’s all in the details and we didn’t want a single one to go overlooked! To emphasize the reason for the gathering and to celebrate the season, a Merry Christmas Hoop Decoration was hung on the window at the head of the table for all to see.
I hope these ideas have inspired you to recreate a special Classic Christmas Morning Breakfast for your own family, and I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season!
