A Christmas Story Party

A Christmas Story Party

For our family, the holiday season doesn't truly begin until we've started watching our favorite holiday movie -- A Christmas Story. This year, we're taking our fanatic fandom for Ralphie, Randy and the whole Parker family to the next level by styling our very own A Christmas Story movie party! If your holiday celebrations are going virtual this year, consider watching movies with friends or family simultaneously using a browser extension like Teleparty.

We decked our halls with themed partyware, fabulous free printables of our favorite movie quotes and our very own DIY Leg Lamp Votive Candle Holder; but please be careful while handling it's fra-gee-lay, which must be Italian. So, go grab your Red Ryder BB gun and a cool, glass of Ovaltine and learn how to create your own A Christmas Story themed party – we triple dog dare you!

A-Christmas-Story-PartyWe wanted our table to have the same retro feel of the movie, so we used the Plaid Christmas Plastic Tablecloth Roll as a table runner which brought in the perfect pattern and color palette for our party.

For our place settings, we layered an A Christmas Story Paper Dinner Plate atop a Square Green Dinner Plate. We placed a Black Gingham Luncheon Napkin between the two for a pop of pattern.

A Christmas Story Luncheon Napkins, featuring the old man's major award, sat underneath a Silver Metallic Fork and were accompanied by a Clear Glass Milk Bottle and Red Striped Paper Straw.

The Milk Bottles were detailed with our FREE Printable "Be sure to drink your Ovaltine " tags; which was of course Little Orphan Annie's secret decoded message to Ralphie and all her avid listeners.

Rounding out the place settings were black and white buffalo plaid napkins cinched together with DIY pink bunny napkin rings. We created these napkin holders by cutting down Craft Rolls, covering them in Pink Felt and Hot Gluing two bunny ears on top.

We even had our very own Ralphie step in and model his deranged Easter Bunny costume!

One of the most iconic moments from A Christmas Story is when the old man's major award is delivered.

We made our own wooden crate by Stenciling "FRAGILE" across a DIY Unfinished Crate and Hot Gluing a bit of Hay to the Crate's edges. This served as a perfect centerpiece for our table and made everyone at the table crack up!

Flanking our centerpiece were our DIY Leg Lamp Votive Candle Holders.

We transformed a Clear Plastic Wine Glass into the iconic leg lamp by creating a Cardstock lampshade, Tissue Paper fringe and a Cardstock leg silhouette. The DIY project was then illuminated by a Battery-Operated Tea Light Candle. Get the step-by-step instructions for the DIY Leg Lamp Votive Candle Holders here!

So when guests ask, "What is that?" You can respond, "It's a leg, you know, like a statue. It's incredibly beautiful! It reminds me of the Fourth of July!"

Our FREE printable pink nightmare signs were framed and surrounded by a few of our own A Christmas Story tree ornaments that we've collected over the years. This is a simple and inexpensive way to bring in some thematic decor to the table.

A small bar cart was home to a few more themed trinkets including a replica of the Parker home and a Nutcracker of the old man holding his precious leg lamp.

Our bar cart also had "Oh Fudge" party favors. Delicious, chocolate fudge was placed in Green Cupcake Boxes and detailed with Red Baker's Twine and our FREE Printable Favor Tag.

A Christmas Story Paper Cups showcased cupcakes topped with our FREE Printable Cupcake Toppers that showcased some of our favorite quotes from the film, including; "I triple dog-dare ya!", "Nadda finga!" and "I can't put my arms down!" held by our very own little Randy.

Both tables sat in front of our backdrop which we made by attaching our FREE Printable Backdrop Poster to a large piece of Plaid Christmas Plastic Tablecloth Roll. We added a few Cardstock snowflakes and a Cardboard Cutout Leg Lamp to complete the look.

We hope this A Christmas Story party helped bring you a bit of Christmas cheer and maybe, if you're lucky, your very own Carbine Action 200-shot Range Model air rifle. But be careful, or you'll shoot your eye out!
