Have you heard the song "Cherry Bomb" by The Runaways? I love this retro rock track, especially the chorus line "I'm your ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb". It is one of the main inspirations for this bridal shower.
Combine the music with the gorgeous glossy cherry fruit and fun puns and you've got the makings of a great bridal shower!
I decided to pair the cherry red with aqua & pink for a hip, retro feel. The décor for this bridal shower combines this retro look with the punchy modern take on fruit that is so popular.

Dessert Table
A cherry themed bridal shower works great at any time of year, but particularly during the summer where you can readily find the fresh fruit. Let cherries inspire your menu as well as your décor. I started with a popping pink backdrop using the orchid color paper roll. This hangs easily with a little mounting putty.
Then using small hooks I hung large red pom-poms turned into cherries. I wrapped Green Chenille Stems around the wool to create cherry stalks and green construction paper to make the leaves.
I also used one of the poms as a cake topper (Note: apply a layer of cling film first for food safety). I love that pom-poms are back and this one looks fabulous on top of a plain pink cake. The cake was displayed on a vintage aqua tone Suitcase Centerpiece and white cake stand with cherries around the base.
To either side of the cake I placed Cherry Pies on Clear Cupcake Stands & a cherry on top - of course. Behind these, on either side, I displayed gum balls in the color palette. Pink, Red and Aqua in a Glass Jar Set.
I decorated the jars to match the theme. Adding a border with cherry washi tape with a "C is for Cherry" monogram favor sticker. Lastly I tied a twin cherry lollipop around each with pink bakers twine.
Cherry Picked Table
Give your tables a pop of color with a bright aqua runner. I used a strip of fabric folded in half. I choose aqua to balance the three colors as I was using pink boxes on the table as well as bright pops of cherries down the center.
I kept the centerpieces simple. Cherries are so pretty, I let them do the work for me. I spray painted Chipwood Baskets pink, placed them on top of Clear Cupcake Stands and piled them high with cherries.
A Cherry Sweet Place Setting
The place setting held a cherry sweet message to the guests. A set of gift cards I had at home placed on top of Teal Luncheon Napkins. These were on a layered place setting made up of white ribbed and red dinner plates
On top of each setting I added 2 faux cherries with a cherry paper straw as a sweet accent. Resting alongside each place setting I used Premium Metallic Gold Cutlery.
To complete the setting I used Plastic Wine Glass with a bamboo skewer of maraschino cherries. Extra cherries were placed in the cutest retro style Rockin 50's Plastic Shot Glasses, just in case an extra cocktail garnish was needed "wink, wink"!
The Cherry Bomb Cocktail was pre-made and bottled in Clear Vintage Soda Bottles to further emphasize the retro look & feel of this shower. Guests could pour onto ice and enjoy this fresh cherry & limoncello cocktail.
The last touch to the table - sweet pink DIY Boxed Cherry Cupcake Favors. Little individually packaged desserts guests could take home or devour right there! Check out the cute DIY here, complete with cherry lollipop ties.
You're My Ch-Ch-Cherry Bomb!
I set up a small favor table in the corner of the room. This table had a matching aqua runner and a fabulous cherry banner. I made the cherries out of Inflatable Red Mini Beach Balls. These were such a great find. Cost effective and perfectly red and round like a cherry.
I threaded Green Chenille Stems through the valve in order to connect the 2 "cherries" together. The stem also winds around the bakers twine to easily keep the cherries in place. Lastly, I used green construction paper and cut out leaves. I traced around the first one I created to make sure each of them were the same. This gave it an attention grabbing uniform look.
On this table I placed extra pink boxes of cupcake goodness and a special gift for the bridesmaids.
The gifts for bridesmaids were gorgeous iridescent make-up bags. The great thing about these gifts is they can do double duty on the brides wedding day. I filled them full of wedding day essentials. You can find my DIY instructions for filling the bag and adding a fun personalization (that will have you singing Cherry Bomb all day long!) here.
My favorite of all the essentials, a Personalized Love is Sweet Lip Balm. I added the phrase "You're the Cherry Bomb" to these to further tie into the theme.
These beautiful red ranunculus were the perfect addition and another bright pop of red on the table. Have fun and try using something different for a vase. I had a vintage retro milk jug at home I used, I gave it some height with a Clear Cupcake Stand.
Remind your girlfriends how much they mean to you with an extra pun or two as they leave the shower!
Pump up the volume on "Cherry Bomb" and enjoy this fun, fresh & hip cherry themed bridal shower.
