We put a unique twist on a traditional classroom theme by pairing adorable animal cutouts with neon and chalkboard! Who would have thought?!? There’s something about neon against black that I just LOVE! We added some bold patterns, dramatic palm trees, funky leopard prints, and pretty classroom embellishments to create an unforgettable Safari classroom!
I used a black bulletin board paper throughout the room, then added accents of pink, lime green, turquoise, orange, yellow and blue. I love how all the bright colors pop against the black!
Check out the Safari motivational posters above the bulletin board. Mounting them on neon poster board made them really stand out. I love the little pop of color behind each one - this really helps to bring more color into the room and to help repeat the color combination in a creative way!
This has to be one of my favorite projects in the entire room! I took a palm tree cutout and created one of the most exciting elements in this space! With the light colored walls, I knew that the trees needed more contrast against the pale background. I took chalkboard paint and sprayed each tree, then outlined the leaves and trunks with chalkboard paint markers. I love how the trees fill this awkward, narrow space, while also bringing the Safari theme to life!
Creating a pretty, yet functional teacher desk was easy! I used coordinating bulletin board paper, border, poster board, and many items to transform this boring, beige desk. Feel free to make your desk a focal point and decorate it with things that make you happy!
The tables are ready for excited, little learners! We filled each table with bright bins, writing folders, supplies, coordinating pencils, and folders. We then topped it off with a chalkboard table sign for easy classroom management.
This bold zebra rug has to be one of my favorite elements in this room! I love the dramatic black and white pattern paired with neon colors! Create a cozy reading area by adding coordinating pillows and bright book baskets!
I couldn't resist adding poms to my bulletin boards! The boards needed a pop of color, so I grabbed some pretty poofs and stapled them against the black background to make them really stand out. Lastly, I used artificial leaves and stapled them behind my flowers...just another little detail that helped pull my Safari theme together!
Instead of a typical valance, I decided to go with something a little more dramatic...floor length curtains. We used a leopard bandanna and a pink pom as a fun tieback! These curtains definitely make a statement!
There are so many cute, little accessories that coordinate with the Chalkboard Safari theme! Folders, notepads, stress balls, pencils, and book bags are just a few of the many items available to help create your one-of-a-kind space.
Every Safari room needs palm trees! I added a 3D silhouette tree in the corner of my room. Again, I used chalkboard spray paint and chalk markers to outline the tree cutout. Don't forget to embellish your tree with the cute Chalkboard Safari cutouts! See my how to make these DIY Safari trees HERE.
I decorated this entire room with bright neon bins, caddies, book baskets, jars and colorful pails! There was so much to choose from! Wasn't this fun? This playful mix of patterns, bright colors, chalkboard and animals makes this a theme that your students are sure to love! Go WILD this school year when you decorate with the Chalkboard Safari classroom decor!
