Celebrating Your Star Student of the Week

Celebrating Your Star Student of the Week

I love to celebrate students in my classroom by choosing one student to be the "Star Student" of the week. My students eagerly wait for their special week and are always so excited to share with their classmates. This year, I've decided to continue with the "Star Student" to help build a classroom community, but I will also be incorporating a life skill that the student possesses on a regular basis and have classmates get involved!

I love that the poster allows each child to share their favorite items and a little bit about their family. The posters make a great display and would be perfect to create a class book with.star-of-the-week-in-the-classroomEach student receives a Star Student Swag Bag! Each bag contains a special pencil bag, star sunglasses, bracelet and special star student pencil. The Star Student Swag Bag comes in sets of 8, 16, and 30 to allow you to order the perfect amount for your classroom.star-of-the-week-in-the-classroomTo incorporate a life skill into the star student celebration, I have started to display the star student poster along with a title of "Star of ____." I want to not only focus on the child, but also a life skill that is very important to our classroom community.star-of-the-week-in-the-classroomThe star student will receive a Takeout Boxes with Die Cut Stars to keep on their desk throughout the week. Classmates will write notes to the star student and explain ways that they see their friend demonstrating the citizenship skill. At the end of the week, the star student will read all the notes he/she has received. The takeout box with notes will be taken home to share with their families! I think this activity is a great way to make each star student feel appreciated and allows the rest of the students to be aware of the citizenship skills that I'm trying to teach them throughout the year.
