There is something so classic and feminine about an ornate carousel horse and vintage style carousel. These gorgeous horses were the inspiration for our Carousel Baby Shower, thrown to welcome a sweet baby girl! With a soft color palette of pink, blue and yellow and elegant bursts of gold, this timeless theme captures our hearts!
The Table:
To create an elegant and feminine feel for our Carousel Baby Shower, the table was dressed in a soft pink table linen lined with a gold sequin table runner topped with a mint green gossamer runner and a carousel horse table runner. The hint of gold peeking out from beneath the carousel horse table runner added a chic, delicate touch.
The Place Settings:
Each place setting had various carousel inspired components, starting with a pearl white charger plate, a lace like gold dinner plate layered with both carousel dinner plates and carousel dessert plates.
We love adding layers to our place settings, it is an inexpensive way to make an event look high end.
Alongside each place setting were coordinating carousel napkins topped with glittering gold cutlery. This elegant pop of gold tied into our table runner and added to the elegance of the place setting.
The Centerpiece:
Tissue paper carousels complete with horses sat at each end of our centerpiece and tied in perfectly with our themed plates and napkins. These centerpieces assemble in seconds and are large enough to make a sweet and feminine statement.
In the center of our two tissue paper carousels, we created a custom diy carousel horse centerpiece using a painted wood slice, a painted horse saddle, a striped paper straw and a gold bead. It added an especially elegant touch to the center of our table.
Lace planters were filled with mint fillers and wrapped in carousel cake bags to create an ornate and coordinating detail to our centerpiece.
Carousel horses were created by adhering a paper straw to a painted vinyl horse and a gold pearlized bead.
The Dessert Buffet:
The dessert table was dressed in a carousel themed tablecloth to create an ultra feminine look. A sequined table runner coordinated with the party table to tie both areas together.
The Backdrop:
A simple backdrop was created using a pink and white striped tablecloth roll to emulate an old-fashioned carnival tent. We added a few signage details using gold glitter contact paper to create something truly eye-catching.
A DIY Detail:
A carousel means waiting in line for tickets to take a ride, and we wanted our guests to ride in timeless style by creating a classic and vintage style DIY Ticket Booth using painted wooden crates, wood planks, gold glitter contact paper, banners, bows and more. Not only did this elegant piece look beautiful on our dessert table and against the carnival tent inspired backdrop, but it was functional and looked perfect topped with sweet treats for guests to enjoy. This unique ticket booth can be made at home by following our tutorial here.
The Food:
A simple pink and white cake looked perfect placed on layered gold and carousel themed plates in the center of the dessert table.
We created a simple cake topper for our cake that mimicked the carousel horse centerpiece.
To continue with the striped carnival pattern, pink and white striped popcorn boxes were filled with sweetened popcorn topped with colorful candies. Each popcorn box had a carousel horse detail added to the front for a fun look.
When we think of carousel rides and carnivals we immediately dream of decadent ice cream cones and fluffy cotton candy. To create a unique alternative to a basic shower cake, we served up cupcake ice cream cones topped with soft fluffs of cotton candy and shimmering candies on top. We baked these cupcakes right in the cupcake cones for a unique and fun carnival themed treat!
This easy to replicate recipe added a creative and whimsical food element that guests absolutely adored! Whip up this ice cream inspired treat by following our recipe here.
The Favors:
Each guest received a hand crafted and uniquely beautiful DIY Carousel Horse Favor Jar full of delicious buttermints.
The jars were custom-made using painted miniature horse figurines, paper straws and a coordinating carousel treat bag to create a one of a kind themed favor.
