I love burgundy for a fall or winter wedding. It is such a beautiful, rich color, especially when paired with a blush. The berry-hued burgundy highlights the deeper tones within the delicate blush, creating a soft and sophisticated look. When styling this backyard wedding I also layered in copper, rose gold & fur accents to create a lush, textured look that is both elegant & unique.
This gorgeous burgundy, blush and fur wedding uses affordable and easy to create elements that turn any space into a cozy & intimate setting.
The Altar
What could enhance the romance of a wedding more than the heart of your home, a fireplace. The warm colors & texture I used for this wedding were inspired by this local salvage store find. The contrast of its age against the gorgeous new Rose Gold Candle Holders Set and Rose Gold Ornate Candle Holders creating the perfect blend of vintage & modern elegance. The hard edges are softened with lush faux fur and natural elements like birch wood pillars and moss.
Flowers help to show off the elegant color scheme. I used a floral design created by my friend Susan of Bloomin Couture. I used burgundy dahlia's paired with a café au lait dahlia & garden roses. Both have a hint of blush. Then I scattered burgundy rose petals, a simple embellishment that adds to the romance of this setting.
I also added ivy garlands and green moss. These versatile accents are a deep green which further offsets the blush.
Every romantic backdrop needs ambient light. I love pillar candles and have a lot of varying heights at home. I used these to give a warm glow inside the hearth. Then to frame the altar, I used Copper Lanterns with LED lights I had left over from Christmas inside them, these create a sparkly glow as night falls. Lastly, I added some firewood I had in my backyard.
I hope this inspires you to create the perfect outdoor spot to exchange vows. Don't be afraid to add personal touches and greens you have in your garden to make it truly the altar of your dreams.
The Sweetheart Table
I'm often asked to create a special "Sweetheart Table" just for the bride & groom. Make it stand out by creating a table for the special couple that is inexpensive, beautiful and unique from your guest tables. Start by layering textiles such as this blush satin, sequin and fur combination. It looks so cozy and warm for fall. I also like to incorporate meaningful accents that reinforce the giddy feeling of sitting with your sweetheart as "Mr. & Mrs". These DIY Mr. & Mrs. Fur & Copper Chair Backs fit the bill perfectly and make for a comfortable evening of relaxing in your seat.
I then added a wood slice to the table and placed the floral arrangement in the center. The flowers I used were all in season or from my garden. Selecting flowers that are in season or readily available helps keep things affordable. At each side, and keeping in theme, I placed the cutest Mini Copper Lanterns, one for the bride and one for the groom.
Place Setting
For a wedding, it is again, layering that makes the difference. I begin with a charger. It is a great way to anchor the place setting. The warm tones of the Copper Paper Chargers and tie in with the Premium Metallic Copper Cutlery and White Premium Plastic Rose Gold Rimmed Plates. I also love the trend of personalizing your big day. These plates have the perfect spot in the edging to add a monogram and the date of the wedding. See my how-to here. Elena of World Wide Party designed this gorgeous geometric inspired menu for the table, tying in the Rose Gold Candle Holder altar accents to the table.
I then added the burgundy napkins which really pop against the blush. I love to mix vintage & modern elements, especially with glassware. To complete the look, another of my flea market finds, vintage blush glassware paired with the modern Clear Stemless Plastic Wine Glasses and Clear Patterned Champagne Flutes.
Dessert Table
Treat your guests to a tempting dessert table inspired by fall fruits & foliage. These delicious caramel & chocolate salt dipped pears were quick and simple to make. You can find the recipe here
I loved the basswood plank with bark the pears were displayed on, it tied into the wood I used at the altar. That and it had enough room for a cheeky pun!
Layer this and your cake on top of a fur table cover and you have a beautiful rustic, yet elegant finish. Lastly, don't forget your cake topper, the Happily Ever After Cake Topper is beautiful and will add the perfect last detail to your romantic dessert table.
I hope you enjoyed this Burgundy, Blush and Fur Fall Wedding with it's rich and warm copper and rose gold accents as much as I did creating it.
