Take your bug jars outside to find some bugs! We were surprised how many little insects we discovered by looking closely at the grass and plants. Stella and Hazel found a mini grasshopper, moth, spider, and lots of roly poly bugs for their jars. We used our little bug nets to help catch the insects in the grass before putting them in our jars. The girls also had fun sporting some insect tattoos during bug week!

Make the sweetest bumblebees with this simple paper craft kit. Just glue the pre-cut pieces together. The best part is you get to use your thumbprints to add the bee’s stripes! Display your sweet creation with the hanger included in the kit.

Hazel and I spent a morning out on the patio making butterflies, ladybugs, and dragonflies from these bug sand art kits. Just peel away one section of the bug at a time and sprinkle with the colored sand! We used the leftover sand to make ‘rainbow sand’ by combining it all together in a jar and sprinkling it on.

Create fruit insects! Use the fruit you have on hand to make any variety of insects. We made caterpillars out of blueberries and toothpicks, butterflies out of kiwi slices, and imaginary bugs out of an apple. I used small pieces of AirHeads® candy to create the eyes and antennae. You can use a dab of peanut butter or Nutella® as glue to stick on the eyes!
