I’m excited to share a fun and bright luau, perfect for birthdays and graduation parties! Living in Southern California, luau season comes as soon as the temperatures start to rise in early April. We love outdoor parties and luaus are perfect for celebrating all the summer occasions. We recently kicked off the outdoor party season with a festive and vibrant luau right in our own backyard. Luau-themed parties are a family favorite and I can’t wait for all the tropical parties we have planned this summer! If you’re planning a luau or Hawaiian themed party soon, I have several easy tips to convert your backyard into a tropical oasis with fun luau products.
To start creating our little backyard tiki hut, I hung up a few Tropical Luau Table Skirt along our pergola. I set up the Tabletop Tiki Hut as my focal point. See how I created the Tiki Tabletop HERE.
Once my tiki tabletop was ready, I set out a delicious coconut cake topped with Hibiscus Hair Clips. You know, hair clips aren't just for hair! I clipped a few on wooden skewers to make a quick and easy tropical themed cake topper. The hair clips are not deemed food safe, so I made sure the wooden skewers were tall enough that the clips didn't actually touch the cake.
My Tropical Piña Colada Cupcakes are always a big hit at parties, so I whipped up a batch and added a few Hibiscus Picks for cupcake toppers. The brightly colored flowers tied in nicely with the other luau elements.
The hair clips also make pretty decorations so I added a few to my cake plates for tropical flair.
I set out the Luau Dinner Plates and filled the cute little Pineapple Dishes with cubed cheese for the kids to enjoy.
Since not everyone likes cakes and cupcakes, I like to serve fresh fruit as an alternative to pastries at my parties. I made some fresh fruit kabobs with strawberries, red grapes and green grapes using the Tiki Fruit Kabobs Skewers. Aren't the little tiki heads fun?
I also made our favorite Coconut Pineapple Milkshakes and served them in Ceramic Pineapple Tumblers with Lids and Bamboo Paper Straws. If you love coconut and pineapple, you'll want to check out my recipe HERE. The ceramic tumblers were another big hit at the party. Drinks just taste better in cute cups, don't they?
I always say a party just isn't complete without lots of balloons! I created a bright Tropical Balloon Garland to hang in the front of our pergola to make a big statement. It made the perfect welcome sign for guests. Check out my tutorial on how to create your own HERE.
And that's how you can create your own little tropical oasis with just a few luau themed products!
