Dear reader, this author heard a young bride-to-be was in want for a stylish soirée befitting a lady, and not one to let a bride down, a colorful, garden tea party is most definitely in order! Inspired by the bright and beautiful flower-filled scenes of the popular period drama Bridgerton, we've pulled together a bevy of ideas that are sure to inspire. From a backdrop full of blooms and hanging teapots to a favors station with a relaxing bath tea gifts, we've thought of it all. So, make haste and scroll below to soak in all the details to create your own fete sure to have the whole town talking!
To set this cottagecore scene, we started with a simple, yet elegant backdrop dotted with pink, yellow, blue, seafoam and lavender blooms. A painted garden trellis, was propped against the wall to help draw the eyes up, and provide a base for a beautiful floral swag.
To create the floral swag, we began by wrapping a branch with a Silver Dollar Eucalyptus Garland, Thistle Globe Garland, Faux Mixed Greenery Garland, and White Rose Faux Floral Garland.
Pink Faux Hydrangea Stems, White Faux Hydrangea Stems, spray-painted roses and stems from a Faux Floral Bouquet (which also received a light coat of spray paint) were then mixed in with the greenery.
Next, DIY Ceramic Teapot Flower Planters were painted in various colors to coordinate with the theme and then got filled with spray painted baby's breath. The pots were strung onto our trellis using pink satin ribbon.
Our last step for this backdrop was to dot it with butterflies from the Truly Fairy Butterfly Garland.
To bring a pop of color down to our dessert table, the table's drawer was filled with additional Pink Faux Hydrangea Stems, White Faux Hydrangea Stems, spray-painted roses and lavender-painted stems from a Faux Floral Bouquet with Mixed Greenery.
The Tablescape
A length of pink gingham fabric draped across the dining table for a colorful and a playful touch. As with our backdrop, we combined a variety of faux greenery garlands and colorful blooms to create a garden inspired table runner fit for a high tea party.
Painted DIY Ceramic Teapot Flower Planters filled with spray-painted baby's breath dotted the table while taper candles were tucked into gold sprayed Silver Candle Holder Set and Silver Taper Candle Stands. We love how these elements came together to create a striking centerpiece.
The center teapot was perched atop a White Candle Holder.
Sprigs of painted baby's breath were also tucked into Mini Curved Texture Bud Vases then topped with butterflies from a Truly Fairy Butterfly Garland and placed at either end of the table for a touch of whimsy.
The Place Settings
Bright colors and layers of texture created swoon-worthy place settings for this tea party.
Each place setting consisted of a Premium White Elegance Plastic Dinner Plate topped with a Truly Scrumptious Scalloped Paper Dessert Plate and a small Truly Scrumptious Doily in between. Truly Scrumptious Scalloped Luncheon Napkins sat to the right atop the dinner plate. Premium Ornate Plastic Cutlery finished each place setting nicely.
The varying patterns of the dessert plates felt as if they were a mis-matched set of antique china, which was very befitting of our cottagecore theme.
One cannot host a tea party without tea cups, and these Truly Scrumptious Tea Cup Sets fit the bill beautifully! Stemless Champagne Flutes with Gold Trim brimmed with pink bubbly and sat nearby.
Every lady knows she must keep her cool at all times, so we made sure each guest could do just that with a Vintage Lace Design Folding Fan that doubled as a place card. Each guest's name was written onto free printable name cards, which you can download here. The cards were then printed onto white cardstock and attached to the fans using a small dab of hot glue.
Pinkies Up for High Tea
A variety of treats were set out for guests. We dressed a simple naked cake with painted roses and baby's breath then placed it in the center of our dessert table. DIY Ceramic Teapot Flower Planters filled with mini meringues sat on either side. Truly Scrumptious Doilies were placed underneath each for added visual interest. Colorful taper candles tucked into a gold sprayed Silver Candle Holder Set and Silvertone Taper Candle Holder Set accented either side of our cake.
Flower Tiered Serving Trays, spray painted pink to match our cake plate, were placed at either end of our dessert table next to small white vases filled with baby's breath and a sweet butterfly.
Doiles were placed on each tier of the serving trays to ensure they were food-safe for our delectable delights.
Spill the Tea!
Guests were smitten with their parting gifts, and we can't say we blame them!
We filled Mini Organza Drawstring Treat Bags with soothing bath "tea" then added a free printable thank you tag, found here, that was printed on white cardstock and tied to the bags with pink ribbon.
The bags of "tea" were then tucked into painted DIY Ceramic Teapot Flower Planters in keeping with the theme. A Gold Trim Frame with the phrase "spill the tea" sat by the teapots as a cheeky nod to Mrs. Whistledown herself! Grab the free "spill the tea" printable here so you can easily trace the words yourself.
Not wanting to outshine the favors, we opted to place a dressed up Heart-Shaped White Faux Floral Wreath at the base of the favors table, providing a fun punch of color. To brighten the wreath, we simply added a few of the spray-painted roses and a few sprigs of lavender, which made for a lovely take-home gift for the bride-to-be!
We hope you've been inspired to host your own floral-filled Bridgerton inspired party or shower! Although we created this party with a bride in mind, we think this theme would work perfectly as a baby shower as well!
