I love taking the opportunity with the holidays to really express my own style in my decorations and hand make decor pieces that reflect that style. This DIY Boho Mantle incorporates all the color and textures I love and brings all the holiday feels.
When decorating a space, I like to begin with a blank slate. For the holidays, that means a bare tree and empty mantle. Then I begin to layer in the colors and textures to give the space dimension. For this Boho Mantle, I began by decorating the mantle first. I started with three wood snowflakes for height, then layered in these DIY Felt Ball Christmas Trees, mini pine cones, and cream colored sisal trees.
Next, I worked my way down to the bottom half of the fireplace. I love a pretty garland strung up over the fireplace, and used two of these beaded boho garlands as well as a DIY Felt Ball Candy Cane Garland for a layered, eclectic look.
Once the garlands were up, I layered in a few books, a throw, and a pillow in a basket to give the area a warm and cozy feel. Then, it was on to the tree! My favorite part!
I wanted to bring in the same felt ball pom poms that were used in the candy cane garland and the felt balls used in the trees, so I used these fillable ornaments and filled them with extra felt balls. I also used the remaining twine and felt balls from the candy cane garland to create a simple felt ball garland to wrap around the tree. These boho pom pom string lights were also added to bring in some fun bright colors. The final touch were a few large honeycomb tissue paper balls that played off of the boho garland hanging from the mantle.
As you can see, by using the felt balls throughout the space, it ties the space together visually. The felt balls also help add a cozy texture to the space. Paired with the natural elements of the wood fire place screen, flocked tree, and pine cones, this Boho Christmas Mantle has all the elements of a cozy handmade holiday with the eclectic color and design elements I love. Hopefully you are inspired to decorate your home for the holidays in the style that you love!
