Decorating my mantel is one of my favorite things to do. I didn't always have a mantel, and when we bought this house there wasn't a place for one. Lucky for me, my husband knew how much I wanted one, so he built me a walk in pantry (dreamy) and the outer wall is a perfect spot for my fireplace...but really it's all about the mantel! I loved having my mantel decorated for fall, but now it's time to bring on Christmas!
This years mantel theme is black, gold and classy! I loved decorating within this color scheme and added a lot of DIY elements to really make this a special space for my family to gather around on Christmas morning.
There are so many cute things I found to really make this mantel pop, and it's really all in the details!
This stag head wreath holder is everything! Hanging this in my house instead of outside on the door...only because I want to look at it all the time! The little black sisal trees add texture and cuteness.
I love adding little touches not only to the mantel itself, but to take it down to the floor and add decor on top of the gifts. It just brings it all together. These little DIY Unfinished Wood Standing Deer are gorgeous as natural, but I spray painted them black and WOW! Tie a little bow with some black and white ribbon to make sure they don't get lost in all the other decor, because they are just too cute to not be noticed!
Speaking of gifts...did you see how fun these are? Tip: Use bulletin board paper to wrap big gifts. Also, it comes on a huge roll, so you should be able to wrap a huge amount of gifts before running out. Tie with some gold glitter tulle and they'll sparkle almost as bright as your kids eyes when they see the gifts under the tree!
Place this big Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas sign on the floor in front of the fireplace. You can also wrap plain white boxes with just a strip of ribbon to really give a classy look to your gifts.
The black metal lanterns look great with candles in them, and a strip of ribbon tied around, and really add some height to the mantel.
I knew I wanted to create a printable to go with this mantel, and since the colors were making me so happy, the first Christmas song title that came to me was Joy to the World! Print this Christmas poster and hang it with a magnetic poster frame from a removable hook. Download the Free Poster here!
I hung the wreath from a giant frame I made with wire stapled to it. I then placed some sparkling snowflake ornaments on it to Christmas it up!
Here is a DIY for you that is fun and easy! First print out the stocking template, and cut out two per stocking on black felt. Next cut a strip of the gold shimmer burlap table runner a little wider than the two stocking pieces and about four inches tall. Place the stockings back-to-back with the toes facing out on top of the strip you cut with the finished edge on bottom. Fold the table runner over the stockings and then fold the stockings together with the table runner inside. Download the Free stocking template printable here!
Now all you need to do is fold the table runner into the stocking and pin in place. Sew all around the edges, leaving the top open. Finally, hot glue a snowflake ornament to the left corner, you'll have instant sparkle, and a way to hang the stockings!
Hang the stockings from these gorgeous antler tabletoppers!
The next couple of DIYs are simple and make such an amazing impact! First you'll need to make some gold glitter balls by taking an assortment of styrofoam balls and covering them in gold glitter. Then take one of the wreath frames and wrap some burlap around it for a base. Then hot glue the balls onto the wreath! Easy! Tie a little extra burlap on top to hang it from and a little black and white ribbon bow.
Also, make a fantastic garland just by using a needle and cording to string them together.
Add a few extra details with these gold terrarium candle holders filled with craft snow.
