Celebrate birthdays in the classroom

Create a special spot in your classroom to celebrate those special birthdays. If you take the time to set it up and prep your birthday bags it will be easy to celebrate your students throughout the year. To create the bulletin board I used wood plank fadeless paper for my background and trimmed it out with a few fun borders. Use the Schoolgirl Style Hello Sunshine Birthday Mini Bulletin Board Set, Use the black happy birthday banner and take the letters off, I added these to the board using my stapler. Using items from the kit I add the birthday kits equally spaced out for each month and some fun balloons. I also added some curling ribbon to make the balloons pop! For each of my students I use a post-it cut in half to add their name and birth date to the board. This is a great way to display their special days because you can remove them once they pass and add to them quickly it you have a new student arrive throughout the year.

Time saving tips for teachers to celebrate birthdays at school

For their special day I love to give them a little something from the class to celebrate their big day. To save time throughout the year I create all of these bags ahead of time for my whole class. I start by using bright colorful bags and fill them with goodies my students will love. I top them off with some colorful tissue paper, and staple them closed using a mini party hat at the top, No peeking! A colorful birthday tag tops it off and it is all ready to grab and hand out for my student's special day. Be sure to download the Free Printable Birthday Tag here.

When it comes to filling your birthday bags choose what you love. I love things with color, so I went for a few treats that were bright and colorful. I added a rainbow fidget spinner, stretchy fidget flower, I love adding in a few things they can use in class like neon crayons or a special pencil. Colorful birthday bracelets and a Yay! Silly plastic straw will give your students something they can celebrate with for their special day.

Add in a birthday certificate and you are all set to celebrate your students on their special day. After prepping all of the birthday bags I line them up on a shelf in my classroom, I stack the certificates in date order nearby. Now when a student walks in and says, "today is my birthday" I am not caught off guard and scrambling to get something together. A little prep time in the beginning of the year leads to hassle free celebrations all year long!
