My son is absolutely obsessed with baseball, so when he asked for a baseball themed birthday party I knew I needed to hit a home run with this one! We are big Yankees fan, so I used the navy and white pinstripes from their uniforms as the foundation to the party’s color scheme. Taking advantage of the good weather for his summer birthday, I set up a hot dog bar concession stand. I used our pergola to hang chips and cotton candy and of course a giant baseball head of my son. If you don’t have a similar set-up you could use wood pallets to create a display or even tac the baseball head into the wall.

For our hot dog bar, we had three different fancy dogs that our guests could whip up. To make this sign, I used our stained wood pallet and glued this FREE Download menu using spray adhesive. With some leftover wool felt pom-poms I created a simple hanger by stringing the balls together on embroidery floss.

Galvanized square buckets with free baseball labels (download them HERE) held all of the toppings for the hot dog bar. Small appetizer cups sat inside the galvanized buckets on folded wax paper to ensure that the food didn’t sit directly in the tin since this item is not food safe. To add a little height and make more room for toppings two wood crates flanked the ends of the table.

To pull in more galvanized touches I used the Galvanized Metal Tray with Handles to display the hot dog essentials. To soften up the look of all that tin I used the Bamboo Bushel Baskets to hold extra chips and buns!

To complete the DIY concession stand I strung cotton candy and chips using wired jute cord and clothes pins. This was a fun way for our guests to grab their sides after they made their dog.

Instead of using plates, I chose the diner baskets to add to this party’s ballpark vibe. I completed the look with a red checker wax liner. This decision made for an easy clean up and I can re-use the baskets throughout the year!

To incorporate more Yankees touches I picked out these jersey napkins. They match the rest of the party perfectly!

Using baseball bandanas I created a garland that sat across the front of the burlap-covered table. To make this, I cut the bandanas in half and then just folded them over with the baseball seam at the top. I then tied the corners together to create the garland.

My son’s favorite part of his birthday party was this giant “Rhett head” complete with his own Yankees hat using the custom baseball rally hat. I used fishing wire to hang the head over the hot dog bar.

The party wouldn’t be complete without the perfect baseball cake. My son was very specific that he wanted it to look like a baseball in grass and have the Yankees logo on it. The cake sat on the kitchen table with a blue and white striped runner until it was time to dig in!

I wasn’t sure if it was worth renting this tiny table for the kiddos but it ended up being one of my best decisions of the party. The kids loved it and they all sat nicely for dinner! I covered the table with burlap and then used an artificial grass roll to create a baseball field runner! Scattered baseballs, water bottles and a Yankees plate completed the look.

To make sure every kiddo kept track of their drink I used the white and blue bottles from the patriotic water bottle assortment and then wrote their names with marker.

I always try to bring in marquee letters and numbers whenever possible for fun events like this one! A #4 was the perfect touch for this theme and sat on our appetizer table.

Creating favor bags for our little baseball lovers was simple with this baseball assortment. I used the blue kraft bag, attached this FREE Favor Tag Printable and topped it off with a baseball sucker.

We placed a few baseball games around the yard for the kids to play with and they were quite a hit! They also LOVED to take a swing at the baseball piñata. The other baseball games we had were:

I love these big balloons, and so does my son! What’s a better tradition than a “big cheese” at the end of your big day?
