Let's begin with the background. To make the green grass background, there's no need to cut long individual blades. Simply use a roll of green paper to cover the walls where you want the grass to be.
Next, cut strips of white shiplap paper as tall as you need them, using the lines printed on the paper as a guide. We used two shiplap boards for the fence posts and one for the fence railing. Cut the tops of the fence posts into a point and hang them on the walls using Mavalus Tape. Tape the fence railing on top of the posts. Use a permanent marker to draw circles to mimic nails.
To finish off the grass, cut 12" strips of green and lime cardstock and tape the curled strips behind the top of the green background. Remember to save a few grass blades for later use!
To make seed packets, mount the Backyard Adventure Poster Set onto sheets of colored posterboard. You can either write 'Seeds' at the top of the poster board or use bulletin board letters. Cut strips of weathered wood paper roll, using the printed wood planks as a guide. Cut the top of the wood plank strip into a rounded shape to resemble a popsicle stick. Tape the paper "planks" to the wall and then tape the DIY seed packets on top of them.
To make some dirt, crumple large pieces of brown paper roll and tape to them to the base of the wall. Use the remaining cut paper grass blades to fill in around the base of the seed packets.
it's time to add some butterflies! Spray paint both the front and back of DIY Butterfly Wings. You can fill in the cut holes with colored cardstock or use the DIY Butterfly Wings Craft Kit as is. Either way works just fine. Tape the butterflies to the wall and fold the wings out to create dimension.
Our door happened to be a beautiful woodgrain, but if you are not as lucky, you can cover your door with a brown paper roll. Trim the door with green grass and Woodland Whimsy Woodgrain Bulletin Board Borders. Add a fun topper to your door with a Backyard Adventure Door Decor Set.
Want to get your students involved in the fun? Following a lesson on bugs, and have the kids create insects with their names on them from this Spring Bug Craft Kit. Once completed, hang the crafted bugs, Backyard Adventure Dessert Plates, and Monstera leaves onto your door to become part of the decor!
