Ohhh say can you see, the cutest little star-spangled baby?! A sip and see is a wonderful way to celebrate with a new mama, especially if she were unable to have a baby shower prior to baby joining the family. I personally love sip and sees because it means I get to squish and love on the baby, while still showering the new mama with attention. Whether the mama adopted, had their little one during the days of the coronavirus quarantine, or maybe had a high-risk pregnancy and missed out on having a baby shower, a sip and see is the perfect alternative! Follow along below for loads of inspiration to celebrate the yankee doodle darling in a patriotic way!
What's red, white, blue and cute all over? An adorable patriotic party for baby as American as apple pie!
A patriotic balloon garland graced the space over our dessert table and provided a gorgeous burst of colorful eye candy to the room. We hung a Silver Metallic Fringe Door Curtain under the left side of the garland for an added pop of visual interest.
Stars and Stripes Fabric Bunting was draped below the dessert table to further grab guests' attention.
The balloon garland itself was created by stringing clusters of red, white and blue balloons along with red and blue stars balloons onto twine. The garland easily hung from the wall with the aid of plastic removable hooks.
A Baby Silver Mylar Balloon Kit decorated the space under our patriotic balloon garland with the help of double-sided foam tape.
The letters were painted with red, white and blue acrylic paint. The letter "B" received stars cut from white adhesive vinyl to better resemble the American flag.
One of our favorite decor items of the sip & see was the simple DIY Slat Sign that bore the phrase "Baby You're A Firework"! We first coated the entire sign with white paint and then gave it a splash of blue paint. The phrase was cut from white adhesive vinyl and applied to the sign once the paint had dried. If you have a cutting machine, you can find the file to cut the sign here. We have also provided a free printable festive patriotic sign that can be downloaded here and then printed onto white cardstock.
The firework sign was accompanied by another cute and cheeky play on a patriotic saying. A Patriotic Decorative Star was coated with solid red paint and then had the words cut from blue adhesive vinyl. You can find the cut file for the "Star Spangled Cutie" design here.
Patriotic Tablescape
A bright blue tablecloth was across our dining table and provided a brilliant splash of color.
White Ceramic Vases, along with a Clear Cylinder Jar that had been painted white, were filled with an array of red, white and blue blooms than punctuated the center of the table.
A Small Cloth American Flag on Wooden Stick added the perfect finishing touch to the arrangement in the middle.
White Mini Lanterns and Patriotic Decorative Stars were tucked into the spaces between the floral arrangements to round out the table's centerpiece.
Patriotic Place Settings
Our place settings began by first laying a Silver Star Placemat upon the table to designate each spot.
Star Spangled Paper Dinner Plates were then laid atop the place mats with a Star Spangled Paper Dessert Plate place in the center of each.
Each place setting then received a Star Spangled Triangle Luncheon Napkin to the right and a Patriotic Silverware Holder, filled with a blue fork, red knife and silver spoon, to the left.
Star Spangled Paper Cups were alternated at each place setting for added visual interest.
Red and white jelly bean filled Star-Shaped Favor Containers turned place cards lent a touch of whimsy to each place setting. Wooden stars were removed from DIY Wood Mini Star Pinwheels and painted blue before being glued to the center of each container.
Star Spangled Desserts
Our dessert table was filled with delicious treats for all our guests!
We were sure to keep Star Spangled Beverage Napkins close by to quell any sticky fingers.
Stars and stripes paper food cups were double stacked and filled to the brim with a medley of red and blue fruits. Placing them upon a white cake plate helped to balance the look of the dessert table.
Simple vanilla cupcakes, peppered with all-American sprinkles, were arranged upon on a red cake plate at the opposite end of our dessert table. Star toppers were created by attaching blue painted wooden stars to toothpicks.
For a festive touch, the same wooden stars were also added to the fronts of Mini Red and White Striped Popcorn Boxes that were arranged upon a Small Serving Tray.
Yankee Doodle Candy and Firework Favors
As guests made their way home, they were gifted with celebratory favors to thank them for coming to meet the new little firecracker! Patriotic trinkets, including Adult Flag Print Shutter Shades, Patriotic Star Bubble Bottles, Metallic Patriotic Star Beaded Necklaces, Pop Rocks® Hard Candy, USA Flag Buttermints, Patriotic Glow Swizzle Star Wands, Patriotic Flag Hard Candy and Bottle Party Poppers were placed into baskets wrapped with Patriotic Wire Star Garland to create fun and festive favors that even our founding fathers would have loved!
