We love us some Baby Shark, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo and knew it would be perfect for trunk or treating! Baby sharks (and big sharks, too) will adore this Baby Shark trunk or treat idea for Halloween – and you can even put social distancing measures in place to make it safe and fun for everyone! Make it even easier by using this Baby Shark Trunk or Treat Decorating Kit. It's a win for everyone!
To start creating your Baby Shark themed trunk, line the inside of your trunk with an under the sea design a room background. You may want to add an upside down box to your trunk prior to adding the liner. This creates a little shelf you can use for decorations. (Note: We recommend using Gorilla® tape or packing tape to attach decorations to both the inside and outside of the car.) Now outline the inside of the trunk with a pleated turquoise table skirt, followed by adding blue gossamer all around the inside of the trunk, as well as around the outside of the open trunk. Remember to pool some gossamer on the ground in front of the trunk to create the look of water. We used two different shades of blue to add depth. Finish the base for this look by attaching a fringe table skirt to the bumper.
A garland of balloons in shades of blue looks like ocean bubbles, so it's perfect for this Baby Shark trunk or treat idea! Attach it to your open trunk lid and then drape a fish net around it to add to the fun ocean look. To make your own garland with blue balloons, light blue balloons and teal balloons, simply follow the instructions on this balloon decorating strip. It couldn't be easier!
Now it's time to decorate the inside of the trunk! Attach sea life cutouts to various areas of the open trunk. Remember to add these fun details to the back and sides, plus the front of the trunk. Sea Life Drawstring Bags can double as cute little sea creatures. Simply fill them with crinkled paper, pull the drawstrings closed and set them around the inside of the trunk. Bonus: if you place the sea life backdrop (your liner) in the trunk just right, you can match up the printed octopus legs with the octopus drawstring bag, so it looks like it has legs!
To complete the decorations, attach Baby Shark-themed decorations such as hanging swirls, a jointed banner and hanging bubbles. Of course, shark piñatas are a fin-tastic touch for this trunk or treat theme, so prop some in the trunk or hang them from the open trunk lid. You can even use seashell-shaped plastic plates to create a colorful border!
DIY Sea Urchins and DIY Coral are easy to make and just add so much to this Baby Shark trunk or treat look. The DIY Sea Urchins are so easy to make from spray painted Chop Sticks and a foam ball cut in half. Add sea urchins to the inside your trunk and in front of the trunk in the "water" you created, off to one side. Place the DIY Coral on the other side of the "water" in front of your trunk. The DIY Coral is easily made by cutting up Pool Noodles. It's looking great, isn't it! Ready to add handouts? Let's go!
A seashell-shaped bowl is just right for holding goodies to hand out! Pre-filling treat bags is a great way to make giving treats easier – and it's especially good for social distancing situations, since you can use a grabber to transfer goody bags to the children. Sea-themed crafts like Shark Puppet Craft Kit, ocean life stress balls, sticky sharks, shark pencils and cute shark-shaped lollipops go perfectly with the Baby Shark trunk or treat theme.
Volunteers can also dress up to become part of the Baby Shark experience with these Mommy Shark and Daddy Shark costumes.
With potential social distancing measures in place with your trunk or treat this year, there are lots of ways to make trunk or treat fun and safe for everyone! Build stanchions to keep distance between cars and encourage social distancing. To make your own stanchions, fill galvanized pails with gravel. Place a garden stake in each pail and then slide a black craft noodle over each one. Finish your stanchions by pushing a foam pumpkin over the top of each garden stake. You can now tie plastic streamers from one stanchion to another to create dividers to use between cars or to mark social distancing areas. In addition, volunteers who are handing out candy can use grabbers to avoid picking up the candy and also wear Halloween themed face masks to help keep everyone safe. Remember to have some hand sanitizer available so it's easy for everyone to keep their hands clean.
