I absolutely love all things Roswell & alien invasion - the endless possibilities of the universe and first contact. So, if the X-files, War of the Worlds, Independence Day & aliens are your thing too, this party is full of fun ideas for throwing an alien abduction party that kids of any age will enjoy. Let their imaginations go wild with this brightly colored alien-themed party décor and fun interactive elements. Get ready to boldly go where no kids have gone before!
Out Of This World Party Table
I started with a white tabletop and then used a palette of bright green, iridescent, and blue against the white to really make my friendly alien colors pop.
Many of the elements I used were glow in the dark so we could turn off the lights or let it get dark and wow the kids with the glow. I used Glow-In-The-Dark Galaxy Space Aliens, Glow-In-The-Dark Moons And Stars and Glow-In-The-Dark Moon Blaster Balls to create a table runner down the middle of the table. I love the interactive nature of this table runner, something for kids to play with and take home!
In the middle of the table, I used a Mini Silver UFO Party Light with a toy cow next to it. I loved the fun discussion we had around this, the way cows have often been portrayed in movies as abducted by aliens!
Then at each end of the table I used a holographic vase to hold Green Glow Bracelets. Use them as either light up centerpieces or for the kids to adorn themselves with!
We Come in Peace Table Settings
I used alien Lime Green Plastic Plates layered with Iridescent Star Paper Dessert Plates at each table setting for an out of this world look and feel. Adding a silver Modern Plastic Cutlery Set to compliment this setting.
On top of each place setting, I used Alien Slow Rising Squishes. They bring home the alien theme and are another fun interactive element the kids LOVE!
I also added a pair of Monster Eye Head Boppers at each setting (they totally work as alien eyes & colors!) for alien dress up fun. Then for cups I used Disco Ball-Shaped Cups sitting inside Neon Plastic Bowls to look like little spinning planets.
In addition, I used Crazy Glow Plastic Cups for the transition to dark! Look how well they glow!
The final detail for our friendly little aliens, a Bubble Gun that looks just like a laser blaster.
Explore the Area 51 Secret Military Base
The kids get a lot of candy at Halloween so rather than setting up a pre-trick-or-treat dessert table I set up a unique Area 51 themed favor bar, full of alien specimens & memorabilia.
I set the table up in front of a Large Iridescent Fringe Backdrop Curtain with Small Silver Metallic Stars and a Hanging Silver Star String layered on top. Then I added large Iridescent Star Hanging Decorations and alien heads I DIY’d using green balloons and black vinyl for eyes.
I scattered stars and moons that I cut from the bottom of the Moon & Stars Chandelier across the table to make it twinkle.
In the center of the table, I placed an alien head in a specimen jar. The kids were fascinated with this! To make it, I stuffed an Area 51 Alien Mask inside of a Beverage Dispenser (turn the tap towards the back of the table) and filled in the gaps with green slime. Once I sealed the dispenser I used Colorful Masking Tape to create a strip of caution tape around the top of the specimen. I put this on top of an Acrylic Riser to give it height and visibility.
Styling Tip: Fill the riser with excess iridescent fringe from trimming it to floor level.
Fun Tip: Get the kids involved in pre-party prep and have them make the slime for you! Mine did and LOVED it!
In front of the larger specimen I added an array of test tubes and beakers to give it a laboratory experiment look and feel.
I filled the test tubes with a mix of either green or iridescent slime and beakers full of Out-of-this-world Aliens.
Then I used a Clear Angle Bowl to hold more blaster balls mixed with slime to look like alien eggs.
A second glass bowl displayed DIY pool noodle alien plant life watered with green alien slime. I used Pool Noodles and Human Eyeball Bouncy Balls to create these, adding some rough texture to the noodles with scissors and yellow dots with paint.
On either side of the table I used the tiers of a Tiered Galvanized Metal Serving Tray to display the remaining favors for the kids to take home.
This display included Martian Fingers, Human Eyeball Bouncy Balls, and the most fabulous Glow-in-the-Dark Alien Slime that the kids loved - it even comes with a little alien to put into the slime!
I also added more Monster Eye Head Boppers and Glow-In-The-Dark Flying Discs which I added “Thanks for Visiting Area 51” to.
They had such fun picking what they wanted from the Area 51 favor station.
Adjacent to the party tables I used a Space Galaxy Backdrop to create a fun backdrop for them to take photos in front of with their selections. Adding a Moon & Stars Chandelier to the corner above an Inflatable Green Alien Chair.
This was super popular and a fun, unique way to take photos. Even the older siblings joined in for this photo op!
While I couldn’t get my older child to wear monster head boppers (lol, he is a teen!) he did like the A Storm Is Coming Area 51 T-Shirt and Light-Up Gray Alien Mask, so we had some fun in the photobooth with him too!
For the smaller kids, I added some fun Space Photo Prop Sticks for them to use in photos.
I placed these in a tall vase and then put the vase inside a Space Rocketship Toss Game to give it the alien look & feel. This can be taken out leaving them to play the game afterwards!
Finally for my daughter, I created a DIY Alien Abduction Costume for her to wear. Be sure to check out the DIY steps HERE. She loved getting to wear her PJs, “cause aliens take people at night mom”!
You’ll love this whimsical costume with the cutest little Alien Shoulder Buddy along for the ride!
Hope this inspires you with lots of ideas to throw your own Alien Abduction Halloween party!
