Break into two teams and have the students try and draw the picture on the card that they draw with their head! The team with the most accurate drawing wins a point. Modeling dough is a must have for all teachers. I use modeling clay to help reinfoce abstract concepts in math, like fractions and geometry. Whenever I bring out the modeling dough tubs, my students interest and participation soars! Bringing out modeling clay for indoor recess adds a level of creativity that is perfect for a rainy day. It is amazing to see what takes shape when little minds have the opportunity to mold, experiment and create whatever they want! Disk Drop: Exercise and Energize

Keep your students active with this disk drop game! Students take turns placing the disk on the board and letting the disk drop into the compartments at the bottom of the game board. Whichever number the disk lands in, the child must complete that number of reps. The child can choose a physical activity (jumping jacks, push-ups, toe touches, running in place, etc.). These games allow students to make a choice on how active they would like to be while letting out their energy.

Washer Toss Game

Another big hit in my classroom is the washer toss game. This game is a great way to focus on fine motor and hand-eye coordination. This activity is designed for two to four players. Students challenge their opponents by landing washers in the box. If you consistently throw washers in the box's center pipe, you increase your score. This activity is the ultimate way to test tossing accuracy skills.

Classroom Bowling

Every child loves the classic game of bowling. This small bowling set is the perfect size for the classroom, and it is a great activity for indoor recess. Students keep score as they take turns knocking over the pins. The child with the most pins knocked down at the end of indoor recess is the winner! Make the game more educational by adding sight words, letters, or numbers to the pins. After the students knock down the pins, they must set the pins back up as they identify what is on each pin.

Hopscotch Letter & Sound Game

It's time to bring my favorite childhood game into the classroom - hopscotch, of course! This hopscotch ring game is easy to assemble, take apart and store. Use the alphabet bean bags to add an educational twist to the game. Have your students stand in a line and take turns throwing the bean bag into one of the rings. The students must "hop" to each set of rings, but avoid the ring that the bean bag was thrown into. This game is a great way to focus on balance and coordination.
