5 Ideas for Engaging Classroom Management

5 Ideas for Engaging Classroom Management

Managing classroom behavior is a crucial piece to keeping your students engaged in learning and your classroom running smoothly. This can be a tricky task to conquer and as we all know, our students get bored easily and while one trick or idea may work for a while, eventually it wears off! These 5 classroom management ideas are ones I love pulling out of my teacher hat to grab my students' attention and help keep my classroom a fun and happy place to learn.

Whole Class Goal Reward

This Mandala Mosaic Kit is so perfect for managing whole class behavior. I always love for my students to be working together towards a common goal. Anytime I see the whole class participating, listening, lining up quietly, etc I add a sticker to our mosaic. I keep it up on the white board so my students can see our progress. When our mosaic is complete we earn a class reward!

There are many times when our students need their own way to track individual behavior goals. We all know about sticker charts and probably have used them a time or two! These Under the Sea Glitter Mosaic Craft Kits are such a fun twist on this idea. For my students who are working on behavior goals, I let them pick a mosaic. Anytime I see them making progress on this goal I give them a sticker or 2 to stick to their mosaic. When they fill it up I let them cash it in for a prize!

Sweet Class Compliments

Just as I like having my class working towards a goal together, I love teaching my students the value of other teachers noticing their hard work and behavior. Any time they earn a compliment (for the entire class) we add a sweet treat to our bulletin board. When we get 10 to fill up the strip they get to scratch off the star to see what they have earned!

Individual Scratch Off Prizes

My students absolutely love these! I like to add rewards under the scratch off sticker like no shoes in the classroom, pen all day, technology time, etc. They have no idea what they are winning and the suspense is their favorite! I love to give these out during whole group teaching for students who are listening and putting forth their best effort. I also allow them to purchase these scratch off reward cards in our classroom store with their class money. They are a class favorite for sure!

Table Group Rewards

In our class we are always working toward group and individual goals. The value of teamwork and working well together is something my students know is very important. To encourage them to show this throughout their learning, we have table group sweet success rewards. Each table gets a tower and works together to earn 10 donuts to their tower. The first table to earn 10 donut pieces gets to pick from a list of prizes. Then, we reset and start again!
