See how we made origami hearts, heart envelopes, Valentine wall art and good old fashioned paper heart chains.

We love a creative way to make a paper heart, and this origami heart is a big winner in that category. With a few simple folds, you can make whatever size heart you want. These can be given as traditional Valentines, place settings for a special Valentine brunch, strung up with a homemade felt ball garland or hung on the wall for a photo backdrop. All you need are a pair of scissors and your favorite colored cardstock. We love the Bright Cardstock Variety Pack and the Jeweltones Cardstock Variety Pack. Fold your square piece of paper in half on the diagonal (top to bottom) and unfold. Fold it in half again, this time from the left side to right and unfold. Next, with your square in a diamond, fold your top corner down to meet the middle crease. Now take your bottom point and fold it all the way to meet your top crease. To create the first side of your heart, fold the right side up to meet the middle and top crease. Repeat on left side. The final step is to fold down 1/2" on the top heart tips and sides to get the heart shape in photo.

Everyone loves a homemade Valentine and who doesn't love an envelope that opens up to be a heart? Choose your favorite colored cardstock and get folding! Cut out a "fat" heart. This means you want it on the wider side, not a skinny heart. You can make it whatever size you'd like, we'd recommend at least six inches wide. Fold the left and right sides of the heart to meet in the middle. Next, fold the top (rounded) part of the heart towards the middle. Finally, fold your triangle top down to complete your envelope. When using cardstock, you might want to use a piece of washi tape or glue dot to secure. You can cut custom sized notecards out of cardstock to fit in your envelope. Seal with washi tape or wrap with colored cord and write those love notes! We love using Valentine colored pens and heart stickers for the kids.

This is an easy and fun project for the whole family to work on together. Let everyone in the family cut out hearts to create this DIY Valentine Paper Heart Wall Hanging. Cut out multiple colored hearts. We chose to cut out three in hearts in several different colors. Lay three long pieces of red and white bake's twine on table and place hearts on top of them in desired locations and tape on backs to secure. Tie string along top of simple dowel rod and hang! To personalize the project, have kids write Valentine inspired words on each heart, or have each family member write on the hearts what they love about every one in their family.

Remember making paper doll chains? Well, we're showing you how to make a simple heart shaped paper chain that the kids will love creating. You just need colored cardstock, scissors and a pencil to create this fun Valentine project. Cut 3 inch strips out of your cardstock. Fold strip in half, make fold. Fold up bottom half to meet in middle to create another crease. This helps guide you to create an even accordion fold with your strip. Draw out your heart shape (see image) and cut out. If you want to make a long garland out of your hearts, simple tape chain together on backside to join.

We want to keep this DIY Paper Heart Wall Art all year long! This project can be done by one person or be a collaborative family art project for Valentine's Day. You just need scissors, cardstock in your choice of colors, adhesive and this great wood canvas. Cut out paper hearts in multiple colors. We cut out 2.5 inch hearts so we could fit four across the board. Fold hearts in half, make crease and unfold.
